Ltt-flatdeck "Lil Monster" build.

The door came in early! I had originally been given a 10-12 week delivery date and got it the 7th week. Also getting close to finishing the fiberglass work, Thank God! I'm getting too old to work like this lol.

nice. Please describe the fibreglassing process. I wonder if it is only needed at the seams and corners, just epoxy on the plywood everywhere else.

I fiberglassed all the seams with a 4" wide 6oz cloth. After that I used 4.5oz cloth over the entire exterior, making sure to overlap the seams at least twice while doing so. The top has 2 layers of cloth on it running opposite directions. So all in all i ended up with at least 3 layers on every seam, 2 layers on the top and at least 1 layer on everything else. You ask about only needing it on the seams, I'm not sure. But, for me, doing the seams and corners was the hard part, the large flat sections was relativity easy compared to doing the seams. So I'd recommend doing it all like I did for peace of mind to have that extra protection for the wood.
i used almost all of a 3 gallon epoxy resin kit from Raka and about 20 yards of their cloth.
Resin: Raka 127 - Thin Epoxy Resin
Hardeners: Raka 350 - Non-Blushing

Finally got the camper camp worthy one day before Ida rolled in and wrecked our state. We decided to take the camper for a little test run up into Arkansas to evacuate Ida. It was so awesome and satisfying to finally get to use it and see it in action. I couldn't be more happy with the way it turned out. I plan to add solar in the next few weeks and I'm sure there will be more added along the way but for now I'm calling it done!1631458368108.jpeg1631458386911.jpeg1631458400456.jpeg

Thanks for the info about fibreglass.

How do you obtain a smooth surface when some places have different multiples of cloth, and as a result different thicknesses?

This was my first try at FG and if you saw the camper up close it is not perfect. I could've spent more time on it and perfected it but that was never my goal with the FG. It was to add rigidity and waterproofing. I did use a faring compound from totalboat to help level out a few spots and with enough of it and time you could perfect the look and have everything leveled out.

Finally got a chance to weigh it. Unhooked on the scales to make sure to get the full weight. Ended up weighing just about what I thought it should. 2180lbs loaded with most of our gear. The tongue weight is 250lb. Also got it cleaned up for the next trip.

Nice build. Like the idea about taking a camping trip during a Hurricane evac as well. Nothing you can do about it once you’ve left, so might as well enjoy it rather than sit in a hotel and stare at the weather channel.

Thanks! We live in an elevated home on the bank of a wild river so I wasn't hanging around for a monster like Ida. It was the first time I've ever evacuated and was glad we did. Luckily all we had was a few trees down and a few shingles missing and no electricity for 3 weeks. I do admit though, it was a strange feeling the night the storm came through sitting atop a peaceful little mountain knowing what some friends and family may be experiencing at that time.

Just got back from Big Bend NP, did 2200 miles in 7 days! If you never been to BBNP I highly recommend it. It was our first time and I was blown away. Speaking of blown away otw home I noticed both shocks leaking on the trailer. About the only thing I hadn't replaced yet. Also added some new decals. 20211112_093903~2~01~01.jpgScreenshot_20211110-220729_Video Player.jpg20211110_163334~01.jpg20211109_065609.jpg20211108_073922.jpg20211107_142954.jpg20211107_073646~9.jpg20211114_140206~3.jpg
