Lug nutz and an idea

I haven't seen any pics or diagrams of the electric sway disconnects used on the Jeep Rubicon. I may check into that and see if something along that line would be better. Maybe pick up one at a salvage yard and adapt it?

I know this may be an excercise in futility, but I try to avoid having to lay in the dirt under the truck whenever possible. I'm just weird that way.

This is not a new idea and has been done with success a number of times. This has been very popular with the 44" tire guys for 2 decades. The method most use is running a larger diameter of tube sleaved over the factory bars so that one tube slides over the other. Then a cross drilled hole to place the pin through to lock the bars together. If you increase the diameter to just 2x that of the tube the strength will be more then enough to hold up. I ran one of these set ups on a blazer on 40" ground hogs more then 25 years ago.

If I were to set up sway bars on my disco I would use a single locking hub adapted to arms made from plate on a straight splined shaft. That also is a old mud bogger trick that's has stood the test of time...so much so skyjacker tried to pattent it. LOL
