That would have been cool. Maybe one day I will make it to your neck of the woods. I think I will be moving before to long, maybe that area would be worth looking at.
Been sometime know sense I posted any progess on my trailer. My computer was down for a bit so I was unable to post pictures. I have made some pretty good progess on the trailer and hope to post some of the pictures tmmr. Just a tease, but its one solid color know along with a few other improvements.
Like I said, I have been working on the trailer, although it's been kind of slow. The heat wave we had pretty much but the brakes on the work for about two weeks. I have mounted the lid and it seems to be working well. Used three hinges because of the weight. I want to get some lift struts but I'm not sure what to get yet. I think it will be a while before I can get an RTT so maybe 150lbs would be enough. I also installed some cheap LED fog lights from the local part store, cheap as in 20 dollars. They are pretty bright and will work for now. I need to clean up the wiring and figure out how to run the power thru the trailer and to the command center, which is another project I will start soon.
I also build a pair of rear support legs. Used a old winch bar from my truck driving days, an old weight lifting bar, and left over pieces from the the jeep bumper I used to build the tail light towers. They swing up out of the way and pin the the frame. They hold the trailer rock soild even when standing on the tailgate. I also trimed the from to a more follow angle. I may still cut it down some more but I like the way this looks and allows for some future storage area. The trailer is one color now. Went with a dark gray color kind of like the colors the guys from Expedtion Overland run. I may paint the fenders black, not sure yet. I went ATV riding and camping this last weekend. We never camped there before and with it being a busy weekend we didnt take the trailer, was not sure there was going to be a place for it. Turned out it would have been a perfect place for it. Live and learn. Next time it's going. Well more to come soon.
I'm planning on some kind of strip to cover the cross memembers, just not sure what I'm going to use. Thinking round tube or more likely a square tube.
I am planning an overnight trip this week with the trailer. I have been working on little things that really were bothering me, but probably not that important to most people. I cleaned up the wiring for my lid lights and added a quick disconnect so I can remove the lid without having to cut the wiring. I mounted a 12-volt receptacle put have not wired it up yet. Still need to figure out how I’m going to power it.
I also worked a bit more on the layout of my camping gear. I will admit I’m packing to much gear for one or two people on an overnight trip, but I’m trying to set the trailer up so that I can hook up to it after work on a Friday and go. I will need to pack food and water the day I will be leaving though. Well if anyone sees a problem or has any suggestion feel free to let me know.
