Trailer works! I identified a few things to correct or add, but a good shakedown run. Very impressed with her, followed me through everything!

Man it's great to see her being used and enjoyed. Glad your the one who has her. Great job on the mods so far. Looking forward to seeing what you have planned next.

I think I need a bigger truck!
Kool video, looks like a fun place to wheel and camp. What did you have your trailer tired aired down to? Looks like the trailer handled it all really well. Nice setup!

Great looking build!!! It will serve you well...HAVE FUN!!! I too have one that is taking on a life of it's own :) I read this and have subscribed... but I have a question. I need and really like the balance/support arms on the back to steady the trailer when parked. Is this a homebuilt or purchased option and if purchased may I get a link? Keep up the good work.

Greg,

Thanks, it is a beautiful place up in Canada. Being located in the Niagara Falls area, we cross into Canada and head north to explore the areas of the Canadian Shield. There's little to nothing to explore here on the east coast of the US. I used to live on the west coast and absolutely loved it. The trailer tires were aired down to 12psi and did a decent job, but I think next time I'll go even lower to 10psi to help soften it's ride even more.

XJINTX,
I got the rear stabilizer from Adventure Trailers: http://www.adventuretrailers.com/acctools.html

It works really well, I recommend it! Not needed when connected to the Jeep like I was. But it took the movement from the suspension out of it very nicely. And if I had disconnected the trailer I definitely like having it setup as extra insurance that it's not going to tip back, haha!

Yeah 10 PSI sounds good. I have only had mine down to about 20, which is pretty much where it lives for general towing around. Seems to be a good overall pressure for road, doesn't bounce around too much. On the FSR and trails I can see 10-15 PSI being just about right.

We are spoiled up here in Canada, and especially out west. So much open country to explore and not too many people. On the island here we are a bit less free to roam, lots of gates and well, its an island. But even still, lots of places to go to get away in the bush.

So, I installed a battery into the trailer finally. Deep Cycle Deka AGM battery. She has power again!

I am currently just using the 10amp charger, still need to rig up some 2ga wire from the Jeep's battery back to a disconnect for the trailer so I can use the Jeep to maintain charge while traveling.

Now all I need is the fridge! However, after using the trailer a few times I do not want to just install a fridge inside the trailer. I need easier access. Lifting the lid everytime I need a drink or anything else is too much, especially with the RTT setup. I am thinking about installing some sort of pullout drawer from the trailer for easy access with some industrial slide rails and a nice seal.

However, the fridges I have been looking at seem too tall. Trailer tub measures 17-18" tall and the fridge is 16.85" tall. I believe it may be too tall to effectively make a drawer to slide out that doesn't interfere with the lid or the lip of the trailer tub.

Anyone seen a pullout drawer on an M416/M101 using an Engel or ARB fridge? I have seen pullout kitchens but not sure about a fridge.

I have a friend building an M101 CDN2 tub out of kevlar reinforced fiberglass/epoxy and he came to the same conclusion. He used my tup to build his templates, and then looked at fridges and slides. Same conclusion, the tub is too short. I am going to put my fridge in the Jeep, dont want to cut up my tub.

NIce to get the power back on. Which reminds me, I should charge up my battery again, it has been sitting for a few months now...oops.

When there's a will there's a way! The fridge in the Jeep isn't my favorite option because when I use the trailer as base camp I may sometimes leave the Wife/Baby at camp while I have to run somewhere or we go check something out for a few hours. Want to have the fridge with the trailer at camp. Not always an issue, but could be. I could mount in the Jeep and then just leave the fridge outside at the campsite if need be as the trailer has external 12V connections. But, I'd rather integrate it somehow.

Anyone seen any ideas out there?

The more research I do it seems the only people putting a slide-out fridge on one of these 1/4 ton trailers generally have them coming out of dropdown tailgates and even they have to lift the lid to slide out the fridge. Not the practicality I was looking for, :-(

But, I think I may have to go another route. One of the Engel MR040s.

Looks like a decent amount of space in one and it's design is very "cooler-like" with the handles and protected bottom corners. Might tote this fridge around in the trailer or Jeep as needed. I have a 12V in the back of the Jeep and inside the trailer. Then just pull out the fridge when setting up camp and connect to the external 12V connections on the trailer. Stow away back in the trailer or Jeep at night to avoid bears.

Still would prefer a quick and simple slide from the trailer though....hmmm....

The Waeco CFX-35 is a little smaller, but it is only 16.2" Maybe short enough??? Still probably not though...
