M101 CDN Expedition Trailer Purchased - Now to Personalize

VanIsle_Greg

I think I need a bigger truck!
Yeah, a trailer slide out would be super nice, hence my buddy's redesign and the slight height adjustment to the tub. I am still going with the Jeep, so I can have the cold food with me if I leave base camp for the day... cold bevvies on a hot trail, oh yeah! Those Engel units are sure nice, so are the Dometic and the ARB. Still think I am getting an Edgestar (cause I have 2 kids and too many Jeeps so I am BROKE all the time! lol

Finally got around to installing the 2nd propane tank I had sitting in the garage. Ordered the tank and mount from Adventure Trailers for my original project. Decided to keep it to add a second tank to this trailer.
.
No one likes running out of propane on a trip or mid-meal preparation! So now, if one tank goes empty I can swap in the other tank until I get it refilled. :)

Just realized my "initial plan" for the trailer is done!
.
-Wired in the license plate light, DONE
-Spring Over Axle Conversion, DONE
-Relocate Parking Brake Brackets, DONE
-Install wheel adapters, DONE
-Mount matching 35s with tow vehicle, DONE
-Mount CVT Rooftop Tent, DONE
-Clean Water Tank, DONE
-Mount second Propane tank, DONE
-Purchase 2 Jerry Cans for Fuel, DONE
-Purchase Deka AGM Group 31 Battery, DONE
.
.
I guess new goals are:
-Determine a plan for paint. Do I keep it or paint match it. I kind of like the tan! It is also a contrast from the Jeep. I worry that the blue will be overwhelming and not look right.
-Determine a solution for refrigeration
.
.
Should have some more pictures next weekend. Big family-themed trip for Niagara Overland for 3 days.

That is a great looking trailer (and Jeep.) Passed you and a few other Jeeps on the 407 (Ontario) yesterday. Nice build.

Nice work on the trailer. The wheelin video is awesome! How far was that wheeling from you in Niagara? Looks like a great place to wheel and camp.

Thanks, almost all of the trailer build was done before me. I only added a few things and changed a few things as you can see in this thread. Wish I could take credit for the whole build, but I love it nonetheless!

It's a 5 to 6 hour drive north for us depending on traffic and border crossing wait times.

I am back to the dilemma!!!
.
Do I paint match or not?!?!
.
.
I have done a HORRIBLE "photoshop" of a picture just to help myself visualize the change. If you can get passed my horrible editing, what are the opinions? Leave it tan or paint match to blue?
.
.
Also, how much do you think the paint job will cost? I have a friend who can paint, but I may simply not have the time or the shop space with proper temperatures in below freezing Buffalo, NY.

I love paint matching. However, I chose to paint my CJ trailer black so it matched anything that tows it. If you do not plan on getting rid of the JK any time soon or it's the primary tow rig painting it to match would look awesome. The question you need to ask yourself, is it worth the expense? What kind of paint is on it now? If it's a good paint job, I probally wouldn't go thru the expense till it needs repainted again.

I like the matching paint idea, but honestly I also like the Tan...and if I were you and the paint is good, leave it until it needs paint. I painted mine Red to match, some days I wish I had left it black.

It looks nice tan, but.........I do like color matched toys.

I would keep the tan paint. The contrast looks good. My Schutt Industries military trailer is camo. I plan to leave it that way to contrast with my black Jeep MOAB.
