Looks good. How do you like it back there while you are driving? Is it pretty stable? Was thinking about getting something like that but not sure how it would do on a dirt road.

that is sweet! factory coils on the cruiser? It doesn't look like it sagged much at all. That is a lot of weight/mass to have cantilevered off the back.

please give a driving report and input on the rack itself. I'd like to do a similar set up on my 80. I'm concerned about blocking the rear lights on the 80 - your nighttime visibility is compromised, and you need to be aware of the increased width. That could make a mess at a toll booth.

Still up in the air. As you can see from the pics, the tail lights and turn signals are almost completely covered which brings up safety concerns. Since the 100 is wired for a trailer, i am thinking of fabbing up some pics on the back of the bike mount for turn signals and break lights.

Yes, amazingly so, there are tons of variations of this basic design by this particular unit is the "Joe Hauler Cam-Lock". It actually has a piece of the 2" tubing cut @ 45deg with a large threaded rod on it that stabilizes the unit from wobbling. My bike weighs 300lbs+ and is as stable as can be once the cam is cranked, info here: http://www.joehauler.com/camloc/camloc.shtml

Loaded question. On a FLAT dirt road and with proper mounting straps and extra precautions it would be ok, but it hangs off like back almost 4ft so even the slight woops or ditchs would be of concern.

Overall i think this thing is genius and i can now travel much further to ride without eating away at the knobbies

Yes, for now :D

Its the pictures, once level, it sags almost 1.5"+ and is VERY noticeable on the freeway on rolling bumps, definitely need some stiffer springs. I used this unit with my 80 with the big daddy 864 coils and it never even flinched! :D

About 350lbs

Read above, yes, the lights are almost COMPLETELY blocked and i am looking into rigging something up now.

Kevin - For my JoeHauler I bought some trailer lights from West Marine over in Mission Bay, they came complete with the wiring harness and connector. It was also less expensive than the ones I saw at Kragen/Autozone, I think I paid around $25 for them. The lights have a couple bolt studs protruding from the back, so I just drilled holes in the vertical lip of the rail and put the lights there. They don't extend enough to interfere with the tire.

Only picture I have with the bikes on, you can kind of see the lights on each corner:

Looks just about perfect - two track to the single track... :punk03:

Yup!

The more time i spend ON my moto, the less time i want to be IN my 4 wheel rigs :(

Dude, you ever end up with a moto? Of the orange flavor?

:iagree:

I pretty much leave my taco on the smooth stuff anymore, and unload the bike (CRF250X) the moment it starts to get bumpy enough to make it interesting. IMO, much more fun in most cases. The snow is melting and the season is just starting to get dry enough to get back out on two wheels around here. Good times to come!

BTW, is that an XR650L?

Legally yes, techincally no, its kind of a XR650R hybrid, it used to be a slug, it now hangs with the best of them with ease! :bike_rider:
