Nice looks good! What thickness sheeting are you using?

It's 24 ga. It has barely any flex after bending and will be even stiffer after I put hard foam insulation and plywood behind it.

Nicely done! Once it's all sealed up it should be quite weatherproof. Where did you source your hatch?

Wait a second, didn't you already have an offroad trailer? I've been rely interested in offroad trailers so I'm subscribing to this thread for sure!

Yes I did. When the addiction hits, you just can't be satisfied with the status quo!

I didn't get nearly as much done as I had hoped today, not much finished but I did get the spare tire/propane tank set-up test mounted and the strap assembly finished. There will also be a chain running through the hub of the wheel as a back-up just in case the strap fails.

I'd be concerned of the chain damaging the aluminum rim, whether it be just sitting there or bouncing down the road/trail. Maybe just use a bigger. better strap if you're concerned with the one you have now.

Looking great! I've found the rubber/plastic coated chains to be a good option if you are concerned about scratching but still need lockable security.

MtnClimber, I'm going with Xrunner's plan and using either a plastic-coated chain or putting a sleeve over the chain. It's not an issue with whether I trust this strap, but ******! happens and I like to have redundencies when it involves 40lbs. of tire bouncing around.

Understood. The safety chains on my expo trailer are overkill as well, same size (if not bigger) than the ones on my 10K equipment trailer...

I thought you would agree! Please forgive me if I sounded snappy in my response, it was not my intention.
