Maverick or Ridgeline? šŸ¤” Iā€™m stuckā€¦

Thanks, thatā€™s a pretty good user experience right up for the Maverick.

Iā€™m finding the Maverick XL hybrids listed at a local dealer as cheap as the low 20s.

They seem to have a good supply of them.

From doing more homework on the Maverick, I found out that the hybrid comes only in front wheel drive and you have to get the non-hybrid if you want to all wheel drive.

Thatā€™s kind of a tough choice because the hybrid is rated to be very effective for daily short driving, and would be nice for saving money on fuel

But again, my higher desire would be to have an all wheel drive vehicle.

I did read today that the Ridgeline is built in America and so the tariff impacts on. It shouldnā€™t be as bad, if at all.
Out of curiosity, have you driven either yet?

Nopeā€¦canā€™t drive anything at the moment due to knee surgery šŸ˜¬

Itā€™s well written that the Honda is more ā€˜car likeā€™ in its ride tho. Thatā€™s fine with me.

Turning radius and overall ā€˜park-abilityā€™ favors the Ford.

Just thinking how you fit in them, seat comfort & position etc... and how you feel after driving them each for a bit may help you decide.

The hybrid versions best features was lower cost and great MPG numbers. Hybrid only comes with a CVT transmission. šŸ˜Ÿ
The Tremor package is kinda kool with 4wd, skid plates and a little more ground clearance. Would be a good soft roader but at the cost of low MPGā€™s, limited towing capacity and a lot higher MSRP than the hybrid. Tremors are in the high 30ā€™s to low 40ā€™s may as well get a Ranger.
The Fx4 package with the 4K tow package and AWD is the sweet spot for the Maverick. Better MPGS than the Tremor, lower MSRP and higher tow rating thatā€™s not available with the Tremor package. The 4K tow package also gives you oil and transmission coolers.

Yeahā€¦Iā€™ll be getting around to that soon hopefully.

Wife is only @ 5ā€™2ā€ and slender
Me? @ 6ā€™ and trim, not fat šŸ˜

We both fit fine in our tiny Promaster city van, FWIW

(Recently checked the other small trucksā€¦taco and colo too tall, ranger is questionable)

Iā€™m cross posting an inquiry here on the portal for Ridgeline owners as to their experiences with pop up shells (not finding much useful info on the actual Honda owners forums)

Pretty sure for 2025 you can get AWD hybrid.

Frankly the poor ground clearance with either of these will likely be the main limit on where you can go, and AWD without low range isn't going to help much anyway.

Thx. Been trying to get a clarification on that online since you posted this.šŸ‘šŸ»

Thanks for sharing this good observation. Yeah, our Subaru has better ground clearance than both of these trucks.

But that GC wonā€™t be an issue because we donā€™t plan on hardcore driving on bad dirt roads anymore. Those days are over for me.

Weā€™ll be sticking to casual drives on dry-ish forest service and blm roads. Driving cautiously on them should serve us well.

So far? It seems you have to go up to the Maverick Lariat edition to get AWD/hybrid. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Iā€™m just being dense but honestly, trying to get clarity on this on the Ford site is challenging my tired brain,

(And then i read a reviewā€¦probably AI generatedā€¦that seemed to say the AWD feature on the hybrid only worked when youā€™re in the EV mode! šŸ„“)

So, here it is (I guess)
ā€œFord has redesigned its Maverick midsize pickup for the 2025 model year, adding a new AWD hybrid option and loads of tech upgradesā€¦An AWD hybrid option was "the number one request of owners," Ford saysā€

Iā€™d been looking at used rigs (pre ā€˜25) and didnā€™t catch this change. Thx for the heads up, rruff.

Not full time symmetrical AWD tho šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I was looking at Superdutys recently, and Ford's site was all messed up...

Most AWD comes on when you have wheel slip I think; definitely not full time like Subaru.
