Sorry for the late reply... just got back from a 14 night camping trip.
Anyway, I follow the closed Hiker Owners' FB Page pretty closely (but not so much the public Hiker Buy-Sell FB page) and nothing seems to stand out to me as a common reason why people would be selling. Reasons mentioned for selling seem to be mostly personal circumstance changes (heath, job, relocation etc.). Some of those may even be true. I suspect most are just facing a disconnect between their romantic image of a small trailer with the reality of a bed in a box. Or growing out of them, as if children growing was unpredictable!?
As for off-roading, I don't recall anyone raising issues with the axles, but I'm not connected to that side of the community, so I can't comment. Hiker has at least three different models each with different suspension setups (Highway, Mid-Range and Extreme Off Road).
Water issues raised on the FB page are rare but not unheard of. Occasionally missed sealant/caulking from the factory has been mentioned, but maybe a handful a year from thousands of posts. I woudn't say the issue is pervasive, or any worse than what more complex trailers have with their own unique designs. The only recurring water issue I recall was in the early years when front window seals failed, but Hiker discontinued that window option not long after I ordered mine (2017). Another recurring but not that common issue is sagging rear door hinges or door lock problems. I'd guess that 90% of troubleshoot requests come from owners not understanding their electrical/battery systems.
I have no comment on pricing since I haven't paid much attention to that since I bought mine. Back then the teardrop/squareback choices were far fewer, and I thought Hiker was excellent value, mostly because the base price was low and I could select only those options I wanted. I suspected their business model relied on profit mainly from options or higher-end models, but that is pure speculation on my part.
