Got this truck from Germany, a MB L608D MY 1979 with less than 30.000 km on it, will transform it into a road-trip truck during the winter, great space for toys like surf- and SUP-boards, MTB's and so on...

Yeah, - but I like to go slow on a road-trip.
Also bought a additional 85 l. tank to fit under the truck to extend range, a nice option in Morocco, Atlas and Western Sahara region.
Have now striped the fire-pump and the interior. Needs a bit of TLC on the front-brakes.

Is the front mounted pump direct off the crank, or via a hydraulic pump? The drive could be used for something else, maybe a log splitter or winch.

The two top-lights on the back are side turn signals, when at inspection they wanted my to delete them. Which I don't understand.... so I ordered some red rear lights to substitute them with.
Started to strip her guts out
The 608 has a 24V starter, so I need to figure out how to best plug my 12V CTEX 250S DUAL DC to DC charger into this switch-over relay, any help appreciated

We had snow the other night....
So progress have been slow. Got the front part of the inside covered with a layer of heavy rubber plates and a layer of soundproofing. All the feuerwehr stuff is out of the back.
Most of the stuff I have ordered have arrived, only thing I really need to order now is the heater and some 100 Ah AGM batteries... please send better weather.

Finally a few baby-steps. Started to replace the flimsy thin board that separates the cabin from the "trunk" with some decent plywood.
I also have been doing a lot of sound proofing. The biggest gain was stuffing som cell-foam in the void behind the dash and the glovebox, and in the fresh-intake-air-channels that goes from the grille in the front directly into the cabin (old Defender-style). Also dismantled the ceiling in the last half off the cabin-area, and the last aluminum-seat-box.

Yeah, the access sliding doors in the rear storage is curved on the sides, but a straight line on the rear, might change that to a top hinge folding door... For now I will keep the wall that separates the cargo area and the cabin. The cargo area will be for holding surf-boards and mountain bikes... The SUP will go the roof. The cabin will start out as a simple living space for 2, benches and a table for sitting 4-6 people, - cause we normally go 4 or more on surfing and MTB-trips...
