Michaels's Discovery

I interupt this thread to bring you the following comment:

I would like to remind a couple of people that have had their posts deleted that this is ExPo. Specific pointers are welcome, rude and generalized comments with nothing to back them up are not.

Thank-you,

We now return to our regularly scheduled thread.

Are you serious? Or is this like a weird "accidental-post"? I don't even see where this applies. I'm not poking or prodding at anyone, nor is anyone else. It's just friends among friends expressing inside jokes.

That aside, Tim i need a picture of the new truck now!!

You don't see them because they have been removed. :ylsmoke:

no prob... bumper will hopefully be done the last weekend of the month. i plan on going back to bham to finish it.

AND i'm making a set of 1" aluminum spacers for the rear. any body interested in a set? peter? i could order a little more metal and they wouldn't be too expensive at all...

I would be slightly interested :D What about the drive line angle and everything? Would you need radius arms, brakelines, etc etc? Also how much is "Not too exspensive?"

Pete, it would start to mess with your driveline a little more, but with the extra weight in the back it may not be that big of a deal. If you went 3in all around you would eventually want to get new radius arms. Your brake lines are fine until you get longer shocks and disconnect the sway bars.

Michael,
I'd probably be interested in a set of spacers so PM me and let me know what it would cost to make them. Alright, back to your build!

Gotcha! Michael do the same with me, either through this or facebook.

Correct me again if I speak out of line. You're right, DI and DII in their geometries are different, but I should have clarified what I was getting at. While a 3in lift is fine on a DII without arms, wouldn't you want to do something to bring caster back to spec? All the rovertym 3in kits involve extended brake lines, so I'd think you would want them.

I'm excited about this bumper Michael!

well the RTE 3" kit is really more like 3.5"+. remember, all of their stuff is bigger than advertised to retain advertised height with the addition of a loaded, kitted out truck. so, a 3" RTE lift will be 3" when front and rear bumpers, a winch, sliders, and weight in teh cargo area are added.

as far as the spacer goes, for ME, i doubt i will need extended lines. the rear already sags a little bit (i have the medium duty springs rear, HD front), so this 1" spacer should bring it back to where it is now, hopefully a little more, when i add the 120+ lbs rear bumper. hopefully i can find a way to keep the weight down.

i've also decided to make the corners round, not curved, ala SG. i don't really have the tools i need to make the corners look "perfect." i took a good look over Robert's SG the other dya at his house and it gave me a lot of ideas for the fenders and corners.
