thanks. work resumes on the rear bumper and new sliders on monday. i will work round the clock monday-friday and then monday-tuesday of next week on this stuff.

my gasket blew out again so i replaced it today. two exhaust studs fell out. i found the right size studs at NAPA for $3. i also cracked my manifold. i welded it up but i guess i missed a spot, as there is still a very small leak. i'm not really worried about ti for the time being. my truck is very quiet again and no longer sounds like a log truck.

new shocks should be here monday...

new sliders. i have this side done, with the exception of paint. i have the sill piece done for the other side. going to pick up a range rover for Red Mountain Rovers over the next few days, so i'll finish the other side friday.

shocks still aren't in yet, i'll be ordering a rebuild kit and new brakelines once i find out the diameter of the shock shaft.

more updates by the end of the weekend...stay tuned.

Looking good my friend!! There's definitely enough surface to stand on for any sticky situations! I'll see it in person soon.

thanks! i've put far more time into these sliders than i wanted to. the plan was to sell this set to red mountain rovers for one of their customers and make myself a set. looks like i won't have time for that before school starts back though. i'll finish the second slider and rear bumper befor ei head back though.

Jham, pnorvell, and timmy are all coming to visit this week. i should have some good pictures up later this week.

Man, I LOVE those bumpers. Nice Disco too too, classic looking lines, and I like how the sliders kind of take the shape of the front bumper (again I LOVE that thing :wings: ) and run it down the length of the truck (as opposed to using round stock). IMO, you shuld make some round fender bars that ties into the sliders (like what ARB makes for their Bull Bars/Side steps). But hey, that's just me and I'm just a hugfe fan of the Aussie/African bush rig look. I really think I'm going to steal you'r idea for my 4Runner and see of Rovertym could make me one of their bumpers because I like those square sliders and I think that bumper is just perfect.

Anyway, great truck man, the build is coming along nicely. :smiley_drive:

Cheers

thanks. i purposely made everything stick out of the body the same amount. i like the fender bars as well, but if i did them they follow the roundness of the wheel well. i don't have the tools or skills to do that unfortunately.

feel free to use these are an idea. that's what the website is for.

rovertym works on all kinds of vehicles, not just rovers. you shouldn't have a problem getting them to build one.

EDIT: here is a rovertym inspired 4runner bumper(although not built by rovertym)

slider looks good in person, but now you gotta get all that rust off. have fun with that.

let me know when you get home after the summer, I'll be needing some sliders.

HA thanks josh. they have a nice orange layer now... don't know if you saw my facebook post, but they were burgers waiting on us back at the house. wish i would've known. i would have sent you back with some free grub.

i got the passenger side slider bend and capped today. hopefully the rain lets up enough tomorrow for me to get it tacked onto the truck so i can weld it all the way up.

oh, and the pay pressure washer had 45 minutes on it when i pulled up. i didn't let all that water go to waste. :victory: she's nice a clean now. too bad she'll get all dirtied up tomorrow when peter and i get out wheelin'.

We were only out for a few hours but it consisted of creek crossings, mud, rocks, more mud, getting stuck, even more mud, and winching!! It was awesome! Michael and I agreed that we had our own taste of what the Camel Trophy guys went through!

I left the adventure with a broken light bracket on the roof rack, and an undying want for a CDL!! I finally had a situation, well maybe a few situations :sombrero:, where Michael got right through and I struggled. All in all it was a great trip! Videos to come in a second...
