Hoping you a full recovery. I flipped an ATV as a teenager and was very lucky to not have any injury from the accident. I haven't rode one since.

I can't tell you the number of ATV accidents I see at the hospital at UC Davis. Without a cage around you, you are extremely vulnerable.

Hopefully, others will learn for your unfortunate accident. Good luck with rehab. Sounds like you have the right attitude and will be on your feet again. Craigslist is a great place to sell the ATV;)

Eight weeks today!

Hard to believe it's been eight weeks since I was air lifted out after my ATV accident. Those first 4 weeks time crawled and progress was slow. More recently I have been able to start pushing my body some and today the ortho doctor, after a new set of x-rays, gave me the go to start walking without crutches if I wish. (I have already tried this out the prior week).

He explained the status of the fractures and I was surprised that in 8 weeks they weren't 100% healed. I've had other fractures and in 4-5 weeks when the cast was off I was given the go, but I guess with the pelvis the "total" healing take longer, so for now I've been given the ok for walking and several of my exercises along with even climbing stairs (carefully), however, no jumping, or walking on uneven surfaces where I might jar down my leg to maintain balance.

He did say I can drive again !!! So my mind has already been planning a day trip out to the desert! :wings::wings::wings:

Thanks for your concerns and encouragement.

Great Fred, be careful with the recovery, but at the same time push yourself. Muscles atophy very quickly.
Back to the desert when you can.

The cover band I was in during college was called Buckaroo Banzai. Our singer came up with the name, he was a little odd. :sombrero:

On topic- glad to see you up and around. Only one thing sucks worse than being laid up and healing, and that’s NOT being laid up and healing, if you follow. As they say, keep the shiny side up…

Cost for air transportation!

THought you might like to see what the air cargo cost was to transport my sorry carcass from The Trama Center in Denver to a hospital closer to my home.

Sure glad I paid the extra for a PPO instead of a HMO!

Check out the underlined cost!
