Monteros on craigslist

Yes to more, I am looking for a decent 03-06 limited that's not black or gold. And has sunroof... And isn't 10k...

I agree with you... I'm in the market for the same. Some of these are unrealistically 10k for over 150K+... I will take Black, White and silver....gold would be my last option or with the right goodies...

There are several black ones around here for sale, but that doesn't help you

I really want the green and silver.

General street value of Montero's?

I'm trying to source myself a Montero Gen III as well. I'm also primarially looking on Craigslist, however the problem is that I'm having a hard time knowing what ballpark to shoot for in terms of price.
People seem to price them all over the place, and it definitely makes it a bit hard to choose which vehicles to follow.

What I've learned so far:
I've assembled the following "rough intuition" with respect to what the street prices are for Gen III Monteros. Please let me know if you would change my numbers. I figure that since we all probably know what the vehicles are worth, we can sort of "crowd source" our own true value of these things.

Gen III Montero Limited 2001-2002
Very Clean, less than 100,000 miles: ~$6000
Less than very clean, but still nice. 100,000-150,000 miles: ~$3500-5000
Not so nice, 140,000-200,000 miles: ~$2500-4500

Gen III Montero Limited
Very Clean, less than 100,000 miles: ~$6300-8000
Less than very clean, but still nice. 100,000-150,000 miles: ~$5000-6000
Not so nice, 140,000-200,000 miles: ~$3000-4500

Note: These are all private seller prices. Dealers are crazy and seem to charge much more initially. Perhaps some of you have bought your Monty's from dealers recently and can shed light on how low you were able to get them to come down to? It'd definitely be nice to be able to expand the search if I knew that we could also get reasonable pricing from dealers.

Thanks!
Danny

Thats a pretty good estimate for the rigs.
Where are you located? And how far are you willing to travel?

My '05 fits into this mileage category, probably wouldn't let it go for less than $8K. Maybe prices are higher here.

Yeah, the newest models seem to be pretty expensive. You'd think it's only one or two years newer so it shouldn't make a difference that much, but it seems to.

I'm in Chicago and I'd probably be able to go 300 miles for one-- maybe a bit more, but it'd have to be pretty good though. Ideally staying within the Chicago-Milwaukee-Indianapolis region.

I would try and stay away from one thats in a salt belt state, maibly because of the rust underneath. I bought mine in Columbus Oh and when I bought it the frame looked good...however it's just about every bolt underneath seems to be either seized and takes a holy hell amount of pb blaster to get it broke loose or it snaps off...

None the less heres a few that may be worth taking a look at.

Granted for everything I just said about Columbus heres a 20th anniversary ltd that looks promising

A sweet 2.5 gen for a great price...
