Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Spend the $255 for a flight, $400 of fuel and a weekend worth of driving and save yourself the rust :)

I've started the search. Low-balled a local guy on a rust free example with a few hacks and replaced engine. Hesitant, but I might be willing to deal with some of its issues for the right price. Having Toasty nearby helps my confidence.

Talked to the kid who got license suspended, the "only" reason he is selling it

know nothing about it, except that it's in Cleveland(rust factory)
That first one has popped up on my local c.l. a few times.

Wow, nice rig, but not for $15k.

Interesting about this part:
"Switch for Transfer case Lock and partial front differential Lock"

Any idea what that means?

Yeah, I had the same question. Maybe that is where the extra 10-11k in price comes from? Ultra-rare factory option.

I may sell my longstanding Montero, MAYBE it makes me sad to think about it. Gotta think it over some more, price will probably be $4500 unless i do some stuff to it to make it nicer for whoever. Reason for selling is that over the past two years i've been buying and building a bunch of cool stuff for this truck instead of wheeling it. All the while i've been daily driving it, so i bought some other cars to try to replace it as my daily driver and use the Montero as just a wheeling machine. Turns out i don't like driving cars and i always end up back in the Montero, also i have a dedicated wheeling machine now ('82 Mighty Max). So i'm at a crossroad where i want to have my Montero be as awesome as possible but still use it as my DD. I kind of want a fresh start with a newer Montero, i want it to be like when i first got this one where everything is fresh still and I just do the fun stuff for a while.

210xxx miles with new '04 OEM (not a reman) 3.5 V6 with roughly 60k miles. Timing was just done a thousand miles ago with OEM parts, does not consume oil and has always had 5W40 full synthetic oil changes done on time. No sway bars but i may have some behind my shed if needed. Offroad package, heated cloth suspension sears, rear locker, no longer has crawler gears or front locker and winch is negotiable.

I vote you do a diesel swap, and you can still DD it, but at 30mpg:smiley_drive:

It's not the gas it's the age, all in all it's been spectacularly reliable and still is. Just want a fresh rig, as for a diesel swap i've been there and have the T-shirt. At 25mpg it'll still take a long time to recoup the price of the diesel engine not to mention the added expense of diesel maintenance. Diesel is cool don't get me wrong but i like V6's better.
