Monteros on craigslist

I think it is a way to get an e-mail address and a phone number to sell to telemarketers. I don't know what's worse selling or buying on craigslist.

Thanks KgB. That was the only thing that I could come up with but it sure seems to be a lot of trouble for what I would think is a minimal return. Good luck with your sale. We were out your way last October and really enjoyed our visit - that's a beautiful area.

Onemanarmy - Appreciate the advice. One thing I learned a long time ago is "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch". It just strikes me as odd that some folks will work harder trying to run a scam than they'd have to with a legit job.

No problem. I'm on Craigslist everyday, so its kinda easy to spot the scams.

One way they run scams is to respond to every for sale ad, hoping to get at least ONE response. When they do, they offer to send a check that is more than the vehicle costs(they give any number of reasons for that) and have you cash the check, and send the remainder back to them. The check them turns out fake and you're on the hook for the whole check. As far as fake for sale ads, just another way to troll for legit email addresses that they can then sell.

that's why i always use my google voice and text several times a day just to piss them off until they stop responding :D

Considering this Gen III as my first 4x4 to replace my dead AWD Astro....is the "engine shakes when idle" something to run from on this or perhaps just needs new motor mounts or something else trivial?

I always question when someone says " a few bucks can fix." but it looks like a pretty good deal for under 3000, If he knows it's only a few bucks he should know whats wrong with it, probably more of a tuneup issue which can be pretty expensive and not real easy to do yourself, I would ask when the timing belt was replaced also.

Exactly. If it's only a few bucks, why didn't he fix it? Then he could have listed it as "runs perfect!". It's because he has no idea why it's idling rough. If you're OK with trying the usual suspects (idle air control valve, EGR cleaning, etc.) then it may be an easy fix. By the way, I don't know anything specifically about Monteros. I think they may have sold a total of 7 here in Canada, lol.

Robbins Chevrolet in humble Texas has a 78k black limited for $7k. Has torn up seats and a slight fender parking lot scrape on the front passenger fender and molding. No knowledge of timing belt, and they don't care, lol. Was a trade in. No pics on their website, so you'll have to call for pics
