Heres mine tonight at Home Depot - a little construction project at home warranted 25 sheets of 5/8 drywall. Decided the cruiser was up to the task...was a little tippy going around corners tho....gotta love that outback rack.

You are crazy to carry that much weight that high up! That's a roll-over waiting to happen. :Wow1:

Okay, but what happens if he has to stop suddenly or make a couple of emergency swerves? Physics don't change just because he's not offroad.

Yeah.. Title should read "Dumb things you did with your land cruiser" Sorry OP, but that's a lot of rock board for the roof rack:):)

just FYI

I don't own a trailer, but my local UHaul (which is between me and my local LOWES) rents a 5x8 trailer for 13$ a day (24 hours). Only takes a day or so of foresight to make a reservation, and the price is right.

Carried home my shed kit and some garage storage in one trip, carried home the foundation and deck on the weekend prior..

I love all the "what if's". I was planning on running anything over that got in my way so i wouldnt have to swerve. Funny how people can get so scared of a little load on their rig - most have no clue what their rigs are capable of. Granted it was a lot of weight up top, but common sense driving goes with it.

Like some poor kid in a cross walk not expecting to be hit with 1700 pounds of rock board? Your 100 is capable of a lot, but not 3/4 ton roof loads hauled safely.

Nobody plans for an accident. A little kid runs into the street. The car in the lane next to you swerves into your lane. The car ahead of you slams on their brakes. You realize that you were carrying as much weight on the top of your LC as a Tacoma could carry in it's bed?

That's ~1700lbs on the roof. How would you ever plan on using the term common sense with that?

Might even be over 2000 pounds with those thick rock boards. I must admit that is one solid roof rack and this is why I like cruisers. Still not very safe, and could have ended up like that Jetta real easy.
