Great build so far. Love the attention to detail and quality. Subscribed!
Thank you...!! really like the quality and on road performance. Question, how high do you have yours set at..? Also, you have the CDC set on "S" for everyday driving..?
I didn't change my pre-load at all. Once I put the 700lb springs on, my ride height was perfect.
Yes, I set the CDC to "S" for everday driving. Offroad, I'm typically around 4-5.
For what it's worth, Icon states that 3-4 is roughly equal to the non adjustable shocks.
Normal driving, without my FWC, I set mine to 3 up front. Honestly I might try lower except my rear shocks are valved more firm for the camper. So rear shocks on mine get set at 1 or S when empty. If I ran the front shocks at S when empty it wouldn't be balanced at all.
Ride comfort is an individual thing though, so just turn them until you like how it rides!
My next step is the rear, I had a few other parts to buy so only upgrade the front end as or right now. I don't know if I'll get the CDC valve for the rears, do you think its worth it..?
Hey, Mouse. Saw your truck on TacomaWorld. It's a beast, I love it.
I'm interested in those BFG 34-10.50's and I was wondering your thoughts on getting them to fit on 2" of lift. I know you have 3", but how much trimming did you have to do for those? I realize I'd be looking at a CMC at the very least.
I'm on the Bilstien 6112's and they're only set on ring #3, so I have some room to bump them up if needed, but I'd rather not preload any more than I have to.
I have the TRD SEMA wheels. I'm not sure of their specs, but I know they stick out a bit farther than stock.
Thanks for any insight.
Cute kid. I have a girl roughly the same age. I'm rockin' the Britax carseat mod.
I don't know, I never here anyone who complains when they don't have the CDC valve so who knows? Lol
I mainly went that route because my rear axle weight nearly doubles from completely empty for fully loaded with camper, water, fuel, gear, kid etc. You can always send them in and upgrade later too.
Hey bud, thank you..!! If you set the caster at over 2.5* you'll be golden. I'm now on the Icon Coil's and set them very low, also considering taking my helper spring off the Dakar's to lower the rear. I never wheeled the 34's but did several flex test to make sure they didn't rub. In my case they never rubbed, they are sold now but it's an awesome tire. I really like the KO2 and will buy it again, I just don't like the look of a 17" wheel on a Tacoma but love the size & look of the 34" KO2 wish they would make this in a 16"...
Hey bud, yup I ran the 34" KO2's with the ICON's for a few 100 miles, no problems. I think the wheel offset plays a big roll as well.I'm currently at 3.0 caster with the LR UCA's. My alignment guy hit 3.0 pretty easy, so I think he could go more if needed and keep everything else zero'd.
Did you have your Icon's lowered while the KO2's were still on - and no rub?
Truck looks great mouse! I'm not usually a fan of aftermarket wheels (ever), but those look pretty fantastic in your truck!
If I'm not mistaken, your previous tires were tall and skinny, yes? The rubbing might be from the extra tire width.
