I love the truck! Many great ideas. I do have a question.. Do you have a spare tire? I have been trying to find an alternate location for mine.

Just wondering?
How are it's road manners?
Around town and on the Highway?

I'm thinking about one to pull our rescue boats, and take the family exploring.
But it has to be a little comfortable on the highway tool.

Thanks, Beautiful truck BTW~!

For longer Trips i put a Spare Tire in the Trunk , for eyery Day use i dont have a Spare Tire in the Truck . For the Future i'll build an Offroad Trailer with the same Wheels . On the Trailer i can carry 2 Spare Tires .

On the Road the Tires are very noisy , but it's okay . The Suspension works great on and off the Road . The Truck is my Daily Driver , but sometimes the Size is a little Problem here in Germany . Parking Lots are disigned for european Small Size Cars .
The Truck is very comfortable for longer Trips , A/C for Front and Back , Cruise Control , Power Windows ...
We are 4 Persons (my Wife , my 2 Sons and me) and it's more than enough Space inside the Truck for all the Stuff . On short Trips we sleep inside the Truck . In my Opinion the Straight Axle Burbans with Barn Doors are the best Choice for Traveling , Towing , Camping and Offroad Fun .

Hey Ive been looking intently at your burban, and a few of your ideas will probably be implemented in my build. mainly the barn door tables. But I have a question, if you dont mind? Before i go and tear up my doors without knowing what im getting myself into, how exactly did you do that? Take 16 guage metal or something thicker and weld it into place? or is it bolted? I didnt see anything that looked like bolts, but who knows lol. Awesome build by the way!

Westfalia top on a Suburban.

If I get over to that area I'll see if it is still around and take some shots.

I cut out the back 1/2 of the Suburban roof so that I can forklift pallets of energy drinks in the back for work. At one point I had a soft tonneau cover that fit a stepside Toyota Tacoma, but I wanted something a little more permanent, and with hinges.

Here are a few pics of the 80's Westfalia top on my 84 suburban. I cut 8" out of the front cargo portion and moved the hinges on the pop top so that it opens to the back. The top did not come with any hardware but the poptop hinges, so I am still making it all work (with limited skill and budget). There is a gap where I cut the original Suburban roof, and where the Westy top joins, and I am still playing with how best to close that space. I have used various materials. I may just make the back of the Westy top straight in the back with fiberglass so that it overlaps the back doors.
