For a week it might be a lot cheaper to just buy a cooler with block ice and/or dry ice?! :)

It would be cheaper but not as cool. Also those blocks take up real estate in the cooler. I went with the engle 50 qt and will never go back to ice. Planning on buying a second one.

I'm tired of dealing with ice. Especially if the cooler is holding food. Once the ice starts melting and things start sloshing your screwed.

This isn't my first Baja trip but its going to be a special one. A buddy of mine and I are racing his 74 Ford F-100 again in the Norra Mexican 1000. I'll be spending most of my time in the race truck and some friends will be driving chase with my truck, I don't want them to have to worry about anything but the road and the truck so not having to deal with ice is just a good thing.

I got a response from down under and as I was warned Redarc has no US distributor. They will sell to me with a wire transfer but no credit cards. Makes me think the CTEK will be the way to go now.

The reason for the 1800 watt inverter is to power a coffee maker in the mornings and a margarita blender at night. My planned small 125 ah battery will drain quickly I'm sure but not much room for more battery.

Why do you think that you need a secondary regulator; especially one that will reduce your maximum charge to 20A?

If you do not have a solar kit (on an on board inverter charger), then all you need is a decent relay and key control. If you do have a solar kit, then an intelligent relay, like the Blue Sea and others, will allow your solar panels to charge your vehicle battery.
