It is mainly the end of the '03 and the '04 production runs. The tooling for the blocks was getting a little sloppy and LR didn't remedy it since 04 was the last of it. It can be remedied with a rebuild, sealing the block, and using pinned top hat liners. The Cannibal motors have this done. You're looking at least $5g to do it either way. The Youtube video of the guy heating up the block to 200 degrees F on his grill and pulling out the liners with his gloved hands is classic. LR should have made this right by their customers but did not. I still miss my Disco though in spite of it's suicide. Other than the motor, it was a great rig. BTW, it had been impeccably maintained.Man, I have had fun looking through this. How are you guys keeping these sound with the slipped sleeve/head gasket issues? My wife had an 04 and it blew up on us. Sold it for parts. I am driving a D90 with the same motor essentially, but for whatever reason the HG issues have not been a big problem.
Thanks. Still trying to decide if I should cut the rear fenders to match up with the bumper. Anyone ever done that? How does it look?
