Wow - you jumped right in on the new rig! Looking good.

Just wait....the Sterling is in Philly waiting for me to come get her and then the back will be complete and I can work on the Dana 60 upfront. I am going Ballistic Fabrication on all the parts for the front end. They have been amazing so far and they are in AZ..win-win!

So here is the break down so far:

$500-Paid for the truck
-$300-Sold tires and rims
-$25- Sold WARN hubs
-$3.00 change an lottery ticket found while cleaning
So I have $172.00 that I actually have paid for the truck so far. Not a bad start.

Hey, I want the $3 back! LOL

Weekend Progress

So one of the great things about this Bronco was it had a custom bumper in the rear. However I could never understand why there was no hitch set up....wonder no more.

6" Leaf Springs

So I need a little help....the truck came with a shakle flip kit on it already. I assume the leafs on the truck were stock. When I pulled the rear I painted the frame and put a set of 6" leaf springs on it. However now I think I will net 12" of lift...anybody?

Announcement!

OK I have been off for a few weeks becasue I am the proud new Pappa of a beautiful baby girl. I started working again on the truck last night, inlaws are in town, so I could get some garage time. I will take some pics tonight, but I mounted the onboard air, compressor and the dual battery trays. Photos to follow!

With factory springs and shackle, the flip will probably only give you 4" at most. Kinda dependent on the bracket used too. I used a longer shackle and added leafs and I think it only gave be about 6" over stock.

Its hard to say exactly how much lift the flip and those 6" spring will give you. You have to remember, that the spring ends up more flat with the flip(at least with stock springs).
It will probably depend on how stiff the 6" springs are as to how much the two combined would be.

I would probably just use one or the other. I guess it depends on how tall you want the truck. I can run 40's with mine the way it is. Yours will most likely be taller if you use both the 6" springs, and the shackle flip.

Stock springs with the shackle flip ride nice. Very flexy too. It does lend it self to wheel hop, so traction bars or the like might be needed. The flip will also decrease your payload ability, but I haven't had that be a problem yet.

Just to give you an idea, this is mine with 36's.

Well my weekend was hectic to say the least however, I still managed to get a little done on the Bronco. I installed the Dual battery tray and the batteries, but havent wired everything in yet. I also mounted the ONBOARD AIR. It is in but not plumbed, the tanks are not in yet either but I also got another surprise......I FINALLY got the opportunity to pick up my STERLING!!!!! OH YEAH! Did you build the dual battery tray or modify the stock one? Do you have any pics of just the tray? Looking good, BTW!

Dual Battery Tray

Yes to both your questions it is a hybrid of sorts, I did build it and I did modify the original. I used angle iron to build the frame for the two batteries. Then I cut the lip off the stos tray and welded the pieces I needed to it. The bottow and the mount to the fender wall etc. I then took the selenoid and mounted it to the angle. I worked really well in my last Bronco, and cant wait to hook it up on this one. Thanks!
