So I need a little help....the truck came with a shakle flip kit on it already. I assume the leafs on the truck were stock. When I pulled the rear I painted the frame and put a set of 6" leaf springs on it. However now I think I will net 12" of lift...anybody?
With factory springs and shackle, the flip will probably only give you 4" at most. Kinda dependent on the bracket used too. I used a longer shackle and added leafs and I think it only gave be about 6" over stock.
Its hard to say exactly how much lift the flip and those 6" spring will give you. You have to remember, that the spring ends up more flat with the flip(at least with stock springs).
It will probably depend on how stiff the 6" springs are as to how much the two combined would be.
I would probably just use one or the other. I guess it depends on how tall you want the truck. I can run 40's with mine the way it is. Yours will most likely be taller if you use both the 6" springs, and the shackle flip.
Stock springs with the shackle flip ride nice. Very flexy too. It does lend it self to wheel hop, so traction bars or the like might be needed. The flip will also decrease your payload ability, but I haven't had that be a problem yet.
Just to give you an idea, this is mine with 36's.
