My FZJ80 Overland Build

Got some more odds and ends taken care of over the last couple of weeks, nothing that exciting but things that had to get done.

First up was the front wheel bearings, I had noticed some play in the hub last time I did the oil change. Well I just now got in there to re adjust the preload and upon inspection I deemed them up for replacement instead.

Out with the old...

And in with the new!

Also developed an intermittent starter delay a while back, and last week it finally didn't engage. Pretty certain it was the contacts but Toyota only had a reman. one in stock and not the rebuild kit so I went with that. It cost quite a bit more but now I have the peace of mind knowing its good to go.

Thanks!

Sorry I'v been a bit quiet with the updates but life has been a bit busy with a move and no where to work on the cruiser till we're in the new house. On a good note, nothing has needed to be done!

Once I get the RTT and fridge out of the storage unit I'll be back on the trail this spring!

Very impressive. Did you consider the regular tourer model for your RTT? I'm purchasing a 1.2 tourer since it's just me. Unfortunately the Stargazer isn't available that small. Like that setup you have!

SurferJacoby,

The Stargazer is an absolute must for me, this ability to roll back the top of the tent is what brought me to the Howling Moon tents. It is so nice to have everything open at night, this was a major selling point for me. What I wish was available is a Deluxe model with out the covered entry in a Stargazer over the Tourer model. Sometimes I really like it (ie bad weather) but most of the time I'd rather have a bit more space for bedding and one less bit to stuff in to the cover, when I'm packing up.

I'd say it's well worth it to get the 1.4 in a Stargazer and just have a little extra space.

NM-Frontier a big thanks on that! I'm set to pull the trigger on a 1.2 Tourer but like what you've pointed out with the Stargazer so I'll rethink it a bit before pulling the trigger.

Access to the fridge and cargo area is easy as pie now, just pop up the window and reach in, no more swings outs, hatch and tail gate to get in.

(I know the back is open)

Install was quick and simple. Just pop out the factory window, drill and tap two holes and bolt the window up.

Very cool! It doesn't really make sense for me the way my interior is set up, but I want one anyways. :D Glad Phil came up with a reasonably priced solution.

It's been a very handy mod, I'd say you should go for it.

I love the simple design, a piece of aluminum and two hinges. And you can put the window back in. Phil did good on this one.
