In use, it would be grounded through the charging cord-he has those anderson connectors which are positive and negative.

I just had a few Pm's asking what I used to make the box etc.

I used 18mm (3/4inch) marine plywood for the base which is a hardwood type plywood which is why I used it for the base in case I put it down in water or a wet surface. It is just a little bit more resistant to swelling if it gets wet etc.

For the sides I used 15mm (5/8inch) normal softwood pine plywood of which I used a box joint type join around the base with tightbond 111 as a glue for all the joins. All the other joins are in dado trenches with the tightbond 111 glue and screws.

The carpet is a marine carpet (available at a marine and boating sales place) and I used a Formica (laminex) contact cement to glue the carpet to the plywood. It also helps to seal it off and help make it water resistant. (Not that I intend to leave it out in the rain).

Sechsy. I like it. Looks like a speaker / amp box. What's the total weight on that monster, ~70-lbs? Needs some LED lighting of its own, maybe.

Planing a similar all-flavor power module in the storage platform in my suburban. Looking for an inverter that might vent out the front / same end as the controls, if anyone knows of one.

re hydrogen. In normal operation, 'sealed' batteries don't vent anything. And hydrogen will quickly find it's way out of anything. A massive short or overcharge are the only conditions that out to produce any venting of hydrogen. And then you've got bigger trouble anyway. People don't seem to know the difference between possible and probable anymore.

Ham radio operators have been building something like this for mobile emergency operations for some time. Lots of nice combinations of battery and power management and multi-flavor power port connections, typically Andersen power poles. haven't seen anythign this big though.

Yes, I put in a little 9watt led light which is built into the back of the unit. Quite bright for what it is and it has a nice flood to it.

I just spent a little bit of time finding some of the components of what's in my battery box.
I didn't exactly buy all this from the links that I'm sending as I'm in Australia but I guess you could shop around to find similar etc.

The little green indicator was a bit of a challenge to fit as a neat hole is required and it is down low in the top compartment which made it harder.

As for the main controller, there are a few different models which are different voltages and they also vary in what they do so just make sure you have a look and confirm that it does what you want it to do before you buy.
