My Jeep is toast? Might have to part with her :(

So, Jeep is in the shop and the prognosis is not good.

Frame rot in three places that need immediate repair. Needs all new bearings/seals throughout the drivetrain, new ball joints, and all new control arms and track bars.

I can handle any of the suspension work myself but they'll have to do the bearings/seals and frame repair. Do I want to put more money into her? Tough decision here.

Shop thinks it will be around $6k in work. She's a 2004 with around 125k miles on her.

2004 Rubicon models are selling for $14k stock on autotrader.com, to the sky's the limit for customized creations. The Unlimited long wheelbase model is especially prized. Sport and X models sell for more like $8K-$9K. So you would have to really like your Jeep to invest $6K in repairs.

If you decide to keep your Jeep, I would replace the frame rather than repair it. Replacements cost about $1300.

And then move away from the Northeast so your vehicle won't be destroyed by road salt a second time!

Fighting with all the rusted and corroded fasteners would not be fun.
I'd trade it in on a new one, and keep the underside coated with something to stave off corrosion.
Eastwood, has a product you can spray inside the frame rails (the cans come with very long straws with multiple ports to drag through the frame, coating it thoroughly.
I'm sure an Eastern Jeep dealer, or a shop like OK4WD will have a good recommendation on how to preserve your new Jeep.

Good luck with your decision. It's a hard decision to get rid of a "good friend", but sometimes it's for the best.

I'm sure you could do some of the bearings and seals through out the drive train and save yourself some there. Especially if it's already out to be put on a new frame if you go that route, I just did all that with my xj, picked up a stripped shell and put all the goodies on it and made it a little bigger lol
