My last hurdle - condensation

The same fuel pump design is normally used for both gasoline and diesel. Its a simple reciprocating magnetic drive dosing pump. Unlike rotating pumps there are no high speed bearings, brushes, or roller elements to wear. I have only seen one stick/fail after sitting for years with bad fuel. And it cleaned up fine with a solvent bath.

Well im up ********** creek with a half paddle I think. I am really really tight on space with the 5kw and if the 2kw is similar in size it will look just like this. Im trying to figure out how to get the fuel in the tank cleanly without spilling. I have a 2' long hose that attaches to the 1" connector I put in the cap but there is just no room for it. My options seem to be externally mounted fuel fill (definitely dont want that), filling with normal cap (potential for spilling inside is high) or somehow figure out how to attach the 1" full hose. Any other ideas?

Any room for a fuel rated bulkhead fitting on the side?

I think I may try a 90* elbow fitting through the cap. I’m just not sure how to seal that tiny lip at the end of the threads...

Just epoxy it on.

Recommendation for epoxy to use for diesel? I know nothing about adhesives

Most epoxies are diesel resistant. You are looking for good adhesion to plastic. The G Flex line has a few which are good for plastic.

I have 2 brass fittings on there that I might as well epoxy also to make sure they are completely sealed. Would JB Weld Original do the job for that and the plastic elbow to plastic cap? I can go pick that up tomorrow locally, G Flex I would have to order.

I would check the application guide. With good prep it is probably fine for no pressure applications. You might lookup how to flame treat plastic for better bonds.

JB Weld Plastic Bonder may be a better choice for what I am doing. This thing is probably going to end up being more mess than I ever wanted to introduce into this rig but I’m full send committed at this point...7 days in UT in January will require the heat.

Do you have room outside the rig somewhere for the fuel tank? You can run the fuel lines pretty far if needed.

Well you may be onto something, but where would I mount the damn tank, I dont want it on the sides, underneath would work but how do you fill it? I would need a different tank I think.

You got a spare tire to mount it inside the wheel? Another interior option is small engine fuel tanks. Lawn mowers, rototillers, etc. They have a gravity feed on the bottom. You could use a in-line shut off valve and quick connect. That would allow you to remove the tank for fueling.

Spare tire is under my tongue box, its a real pain in the ass to get to, probably way more than it should be for an emergency situation. I like the lawnmower tank idea but somehow mounted outside...so much work to do before Friday!! haha I work best under pressure anyway.

Man this really threw a wrench in my gears but for the better. I think I will mount the fuel tank under my tongue box and drill a hole for the fill cap in the bottom of the box. That way I can fill it relatively easy when I have most of the stuff out of the box and it will also be relatively easy to clean and it has holes to air out the smell. I imagine I would only need to fill this once every 7 nights of use or so with a 5L tank. Now I need to find the right tank...
