My new overlander!

well... "new" Its a 1994 Toyota truck (pre-tacoma?)

V6, 4wd, extended cab. Planning on building a little sleeper in the back and having some awesome adventures!

new pictures coming tomorrow, but here are some that are a little older. One thing I want to say is I actually bought it without the M/T tires, saved myself 1 grand, and it needs to be cleaned up a lot...

new details!:

-aftermarket head
- cold air intake
- flared wheel wells for larger tires (the 32" tires the previous owner put on and they don't fit anyway)
- winch bumper with bonus winch (SCORE!)
- wooden box thing in the back for small bits storage

doesn't burn oil (score!)
fires up awesome and doesn't make any noises! (More scoreage! I like this truck)
transfer case is leaking... badly... (booooo, but fixable)

anyway, I'm seriously considering a snorkel as my first addon, also looking at some bush bumpers since I don't feel it needs to be any higher than it already is, which should be stock height...

also came with 32" BFG mud terrain T/A. These things were awesome for traction, but they just don't fit the wheel wells, stuff was hittin all over the place when I took if off the road, so I had them removed, and I'll run winter tires till the copious amounts of snow disperse, then I'll be picking some new wheels.

also planning on building my own camper for it, since all I need is a bed, a table for a propane stove and a small heater. I'm also considering a Flippac.

Very nice.. check the maintenance history.. make sure the head gaskets have been done.. the head gaskets are an issue on those trucks.

I've got a friend with one of those that he's offered me for a good price. Unfortunately it needs a new engine and those 3.0s are expensive. On the plus side, he had all the services performed on it and the original engine made it around 260,000 miles all while working on a farm and running volunteer first responder calls. Definitely a quality Toyota.

this one's got a leaky transfer case, but the engine is pretty solid. I'm planning a rebuild in the next few years anyway, or possibly a hilux swap.

$3 grand (Canadian) got me this little thing, next best was 7 grand, and the more expensive one burns oil :p

So I'll be posting my finds as I go along, cracking it open like a book in the next few weeks to find all its little bits.

also, the head has been replaced with an aftermarket one, I'm assuming the seal was replaced at that time. (I hope)

PS. Robert, I am jealous of your vehicle list.

Almost bought the same type truck in May... color, engine, x-cab, etc... Great truck... I decided against the buy, because I didn't need the V-6... but it's good to have. I second the checking the head gaskets. Good luck with it!

is that just a hilux? Correct me if I'm wrong..

how much would a 3400 V6 swap be?

Hilux? no, that would be a diesel It has a 3.0 L V6 already though, with plenty of power for me

Oh, and I figured I'd post a current list of mods and details.
