My new tire carrier for the Suburban!

I bought a tire carrier from a good friend, Installed it Sunday.......:D
Now i need a bigger spare to match the 37''s...I was carrying a 245/75/16 as my spare luckily i never had to use it:Wow1:....Now it needs a fuel and water can and it has mounts on the bumper to mount clevises and my 60'' high lift jack.

The top of loop touches the ground when its down, when i get my 37'' spare the top of the tire will touch the ground.

As far as lifting goes, its not too bad....my wife will need help. It's not as easy as a swing away but its mounted at four points and i don't have to worry about it falling off.Right now the latches are bolted until i get some pins or bolt locks or something to make it faster.Someday (It's probably a dream) I would like to automate it with a small winch or actuator or something...still a work in progress!!!

One big advantage of that type of carrier is a little more protection for the fuel cans.

I think this is better than a swing away. With that, you lift the whole tire weight up to the mount. This looks like you roll the tire over, mount it, than lever it up No way I could lift a 37" tire up to a regular mount.

Thank you , Gave me a new idea......

I recall a similar design posted on cK5 from back east somewhere. I seem to recall reading that someone a lot more westerly wanted to build a copy. Is this that one?

I should have said that I did not build this. Its from a company that is called Blazin offroad.http://www.blazenoffroad.com

Kilroy...Yeah it is much easier using the leverage of the mount to lift the tire.
Roll the tire to the bumper let it fall over on to it bolt it down then lift.

Sport-Trac 01....I'll post some pictures of it down soon but click the link
and it has some pictures on it already.
