Pretty sure I saw your wiring harness in the break area getting put together. I am envious of your build. John and the guys out at the shop really know what they are doing. I have even had them play with my truck(s) on occasion. I bought a 62 for a diesel conversion (Defender 110's are a little pricey). However the 6 just keeps going so I think I will see if I can get it to 300k without any real expense. Enjoy your truck and the road trip getting it home.

Nobody else has mentioned it so I will - flying out on Valentine's Day to pick up your newly diesel swapped cruiser is a great way to start the relationship! She'll love you for many many miles. Just make sure the wife is taken care of too.:victory:

I was lucky enough to drive an 80 with a 1HDT for a couple of months last year and fell madly in love with it. You are going to be a happy man behind the wheel of your Proffit's 80. Congrats!

Thanks!
Are you talking about the conversion Chris (aka Lynchmob) did? I remember reading about it on Mud - very nice green machine!

you are going to love this truck. I have a 1995 with a 1HDFT/H151. 3" exhaust, intercooler, and 3:1 transfer gears. My only tiny complaint is that with anything shorter than 255's or 295's... the 5th gear is a little short (but, i live in CA where 75mph is the slow lane). But with the fuel turned up a tiny bit, it will climb Donner pass (read: hour long of steep climbs and altitude gain) at 75mph and 800EGT pre turbo. Best engine Toyota ever built.

i'm sure you've done your research, but I thought i spied the ACSD still on the pump in one of those picts. Remove that. It's a ticking time-bomb.

Thank you for pointing this out - I was not aware the ACSD could cause such problems. I will definitely look into this.

Your cruiser sounds awesome, and those are some impressive numbers. 800EGT pre turbo is where I would like mine at ideally. What intercooler setup do you have?

Im currently running 305/70's so hopefully they will be OK with the stock gearing. I may have to re-evaluate that in the future when I take of the MT's for some AT's.

Looking great.

We are working with Proffitt's on our next adventure, and they will be doing the majority of the 4wd modifications to the Land Cruisers. They have a solid reputation for sure.

Very cool build and I can understand your attraction to diesels having owned our first diesel 80 series for 3 years now.

Whoa, if you plan on keeping this engine for a long time I would suggest you don't go near 800 EGT! Anything over 700 starts to approach the limits of your surface metal temperature and will start to reduce the life quite substantially. As for intercoolers, not sure if you can get them in the US but Safari power (same company that makes the Safari/ARB snorkels) makes a very nice front mount intercooler that I've read lots of great things about.

You will enjoy this set up.

Cheers,
P
