My Rangie moved under its own power!

Well, after pulling the 3.9 out of the donor car, refreshing it, I spent all weekend and up to this morning doing a motor swap... and I must say that whoever designed the firewall around the top of the bellhousing should be SHOT! :ar15:

After much grunting I was able to get the old motor out and the new one back in. What a project! Anyways, I just wanted to express my joy that I don't have to push it in and out of the shop anymore

Thanks all for your compliments....

Now I just hope it doesn't break down on me in the first 10 miles.... :yikes:

Just an FYI on pulling these motors out of Discos and RRC's. If you remove the fan, then lift the motoer enough to remove the motor moounts, Loosen the Transmission mounts, then lower the motor down to steel there is a lot more room to work. You stilll need to use a racheting box wrench but it's better. I've also found that using about 3 feet of extensions on a rachet and socket allows you to get at the bolts from behind.

I actually discovered that trick when I was pulling the 3.5 out (which was my second time, the first being pulling the 3.9 out of the donor). I was spoiled the first go around though, because the 91 donor truck was all cut up, no grill or radiator support so I was able to just yank it out the front without much fuss :D
