My solution for XJ drink holders.

As any XJ owner knows, the lack of good drink holders in the XJ is a pain in the butt. I decided to make my own this morning, and just wanted to share. I am happy with the results, hopefully it gives ideas to others for a similar concept.

I used thin (about 1/16) anodized aluminum sheet for the main piece, and painted it semi flat black. I used anodized aluminum tubing for the lower shelf supports, and 1/4 thick delrin plate for the lower shelf. Mounted to the stock screwes on the center console, and also added two more on each side for weight support. I used stainless steel screws for the mounting and building duties. Its very lightweight solidly mounted.

Of course, no proper drink holder would be complete without speed holes: :)

I had to make it taper out so I could fit two holes side-by-side:

Mounted up, of course the e-brake can still be used:

Doing what its supposed to do:

That is really nice. What was the final cost and do you want to make me one? If I put it on my list I won't have a holder for at least a year.

It cost me about 2 hours of time, everything else I already had laying around in the shop. I dont want to build anymore... that would cut into my list of thing still yet to do on the Jeep. :D

Thanks!!

Well I guess it goes on my list then. Maybe I can have drinks in the jeep next summer.

Great Job Stump! Looks like they will hold a half litre beer bottle...when you're camped of course. Nicest XJ in the KMC.

It would be a '96 or earlier, as there was no built in cup holders. There are a couple OEM and aftermarket cup holder add-ons but this is definitely the cleanest I have seen. I am going to send this thread to a buddy of mine.

BTW, the '97-'01 XJ interiors were redesigned and they added the cup holders into the console. One of many reasons I went with a late model one.

Nice Job Stumptaco. :clapsmile

Yeah, I did get it and sent you a reply PM. Did you get that one??? I verified the address you had and it's correct. It's been there since 1973 so it's not like a new address.

I am definitely still interested and had offered to send you some money to cover the second attempt to ship. Let me know if you need my address again, some money to cover shipping or anything else.

Thanks James and keep up the great work on the XJ.

Mike :friday:
