My Tacoma Flip-Pac build

Hey y’all, I’ve had my Tacoma for about 15 months now and I figure I would put up a few pics of some of the feature on my ’09 Tacoma. Just so that those who are interested in making an overland/adventure machine would have some more pictures to get ideas of what they may or may not want to do to there rig. So here is the list of my add on’s so far.

• Billy 5100 c/o’s up front with 886 spring. From Toytec
• Rear add a leaf from Toytec and billy rear shock.
• All Pro rock sliders (welded on)
• All Pro diff guard
• Blue Sea fuse bus
• Adventure Trailers flip-pac
• Nemo Cosmo insulated pad x2 with pillowtop 2p matress
• IBS dual battery system with relay booster module
• Group 27 valve regulated AGM battery (from AT) with AT aluminum battery box.
• Rogue Engineering Low Voltage disconnect
• Adventure Trailers composite drawers (20”x36”)
• National Luna weekender split fridge/freezer 50L
• Adventure Trailer Combo slide with Partner Steel stove

So here are some pics. Thanks to everyone here at EXPO for all of the great info, and thanks to the Adventure Trailer crew for all of the good work you have done to my truck.

Enjoy

P.S. if I post this in the wrong place I’m sorry. (I’m not very experienced at posting threads)

Nice.

Are you disappointed in the floorspace you lost from the fridge slide combo needing to be mounted inboard of the wheelwell?

A little bit yes, it's not fully inside the wheel well but it would be great if it could fit against the inner bed wall. The Tacoma bed is already pretty tight. Although I imagine a cooler would probably take up even more room (with extra room for ice). I guess the good news is that I still have enough room (even with the fridge not slid out) to stand up and change clothes out of the rain and such. Also, with the way AT mounts the combo slide and the method in which the fridge can be detached, removing the whole slide while not camping is pretty quick and painless.

What have you done to seal the bed area from dust and water? I really like the Fip-pac set you have and look forward to watching your progress.

Love that truck! Trying to get my CFO/wife to agree to something similar. I keep bringing up bears when we're tent camping. Did you notice any increased wind noise after you put the flippac on? How much of a hit did mpg take? Thanks

I haven't really noticed a noise change once I added the shell. But to be honest I rarely have the music turned down while driving :). My milage went down probably about 1 mpg I would say. I drive pretty moderately. Ultimately, if you camp out frequently it is beyond worth having. I use it a ton.

You answered my flip-pac questions last year and thanks I tried to get one but the 7month wait without a guarantee might have caused me to miss this summers vacation so I did a RTT. I'm thinking of ordering one soon again. I am running the OME Darkar pack which can take an overload leaf to handle the flippac which is why I went that route, plus it's a mix of extension and controllable ride. I'm running 1" extended Radflow 2.5 rear shocks but some OME rears would work pretty good. I added the Timber allpro flip kit to handle extra load (I had 25gallons of liquid plus full bed of camping and tools and could have used the extra leaf but the Timbers made for a really nice ride compared to the stock bottom out. If you like to do high speed dirt roads then I would probably skip the Timbers. Sierra Expeditions helped me setup the suspension based on the weight of all my armor and intended load so it rode like amazing at full load.
Great looking setup! Thanks Chris
