I need to replace my battery for the Jeep.

Anyone have any recommendations on a new battery that won't break the bank?

Carquest has a rebaged Deka AGM called extreme NGT. I ran that in my old 07 and it was great. If I remember it was $190.

Optima red top. A little pricey, but lasts forever. Love mine. A buddy of mine has been running one for 7 years straight...

Optimas were good before the company was sold. I have one that's over 10yrs old in my track car. I've killed it atleast 12 times(not run it down), even tried to blow it up when the hot wire melted on the headers of the racecar. It's perfect still to this day. But I wouldn't buy one nowadays. I run dual diehard platinum battery's in the Duramax and the Jeep. No problems so far. I did kill one of them in the Jeep when I left the ARB fridge on. They are not cheap though.

Edit: the racecar now has an odyssey 625 in it. It still cranks over an LS1 that sits for months.

I'm looking at the Diehard Platinum. How did your fridge kill the battery? I would assume one battery will do the job for now.

I don't have an excessive amount of electronic accessories in the Jeep. I'll only have a winch, CB, lights, and hopefully a fridge soon. Obviously not all them would ever be running at the same, and if they were, the Jeep would be on.

I left the fridge on after a weekend trip. When I go to work, it can be a week before I get home. And I may not check it. I run 16 Rigid LED lights, fridge, CB, winch(used once), and I've run the radio some of the lights and fridge all night, and never came close to killing the battery's. I have two using the Painless dual battery isolator. I also have a Mechman 270amp alt.
I run LED lighting for the low power draw.

IMO, don't scrimp on the battery.

We selected the Die Hard Platinum G34 for ours - at 850 CCA w/ a 135 Reserve, it will provide plenty of power for the winch and also keep the fridge going for a couple days if required.

I went ahead and picked up a Diehard Platinum Marine. It was on sale and didn't break the bank.

I think you'll be happy. I did a bit of research on expo, and the DH/plat's were made by someone else.

We will find out over time how good they are I'm sure.

That's a good choice indeed. I've got 4 of the DieHard Platinum's now - 2 in the truck (G65 and G31M), G34 in the Jeep, and another G31M in the trailer. The two big batteries are awesome, we've gone 5 days on one with the ARB fridge, and it still had plenty of juice left. I will say that was in cooler weather - early Sept in Colorado at 9500'.

They are made by Odyssey for Sears.
