Need help with a battery issue in my 04 LJ.

Sears Diehard Platinum is actually an Odysea battery , and the other thing i saw in your first post " you push the gas couple times,,,, wont do anything to help it start as it is fuel injected

Actually it DOES help starting and keep the enine idling when battery voltage is too low to allow a "normal" start and idle on a Jeep......not enough battery power to do what it's supposed to do.

So it looks like the alternator is good. it's running at 13.6 to 13.8 volts after starting. after a 5+ min drive it was running at 13.8 volts. A quick drive over to AutoZone and they are telling me it's at 86% and won't take a charge. so now ordering a new battery.

That's thecorrect charging voltage on a Jeep with PCM controlled charging........Also the PCM or any other on board charge regulator won't ever charge up the battery to 100% or near there.....you need a correct multi-stage battery charger to do that - especially on a AGM batter like the Optima............. 86% , that's over about 12.5 Volts, should start your Jeep easily!
