I ordered the Bush company 270XT from CVT and should be arriving on Tuesday. It'll be time to sell the Batwing 270 + two walls I reckon.

ORW gave me a call this morning that my awning was ready to be picked up. I was literally going to call them at lunch to cancel. I'll install on the weekend weather permitting.

I measured a brand new to me Bush 270XT awning on a bath scale and it is 53# without the brackets. I didn't order any brackets as I made my own for the Thule load bars.
I also measured my Batwing and it is 42# without the brackets.

Currently I have three Thule load bars supporting an Autohome Columbus but I'll be adding one more load bar to support the hinge area of the Bush unit due to the extra weight and leverage being put on the load bars and the rain gutter during deployment. Again, I have no roof rack.

6 months and the choices have almost doubled since Mid last year.
I almost got the darche 270 (2nd gen) over OVS 270 bc of the 20# difference thought it looks ( re reading the comments) that the OVS might be the same weight and considerably cheaper ( both with or without walls)
and seem like both are much more similar in use and single hand deployment.
Those of you that have ordered, have you mounted? any comparison updates?

Saw some new ones on the list, the Wraptors seems cool too but heavier and more $$.

After reading and re-reading, the Aluminum vs Steel hinges (Darche #2 vs Nomadic) is probably less than 5#.
The canvas probably is what makes 15# plus in the difference. Darche changed form 280 gsm to 320 gsm while Nomadic is 600D.
Darche Gen 1 Steel hinge/280 gsm/ 60#
Darche Gen 2 Alum hinge/320 gsm/48#
Eclipse Steel hinge/600D / 72 #

So canvas difference between the 2, probably not as important, but I would say then adding the walls weight (depending on what each is made) is also a factor.
Darche Wall 1, 260 gsm 10.5#, Wall 2, 10.5#, Wall #3 10.5 (all listed at 10.5# is suspect IMO)
Nomadic Wall 1, (??) , 15 #, Wall 2, 15#, Wall #3, 15# ( all listed at 15# is suspect and probably also miss information but it is what is listed)

The Wraptor 85 lbs INCLUDES heavy brackets so keep that in mind. I don't know if most of these companies are including the weight of their beefy brackets. I'll modify the post to make that more clear.

Someone stated earlier that the OVS is a copy of the Darche 2nd gen, not sure if anyone is able to refute or reinforce that.

I’m probably going to order an OVS LT for my (new to me) 2013 Suburban that currently has just a factory rack (rails+crossbars that can adjust). Not sure if I can mount to that somehow, or if I’d need some other sort of rack. I have some various Yakima gear on my other car, so adding Yakima cross bars would make some sense for me.

I think you can go either way as I did. The cross bars on my 4runner are flat, so I built a pair of L brackets out of 1/4" steel, drilled two holes and transferred the holes to the cross bars. A simple nut/bolt solution was used to secure the L brackets to the cross bars. But this was for a light awning that's 90deg, not a 270deg, which typically are heavier. You make the call if two brackets and two cross bars are sufficient, which I'd think they would be since OVS LT are supported by their poles. One downside to using the factory cross bar solution is that they may not spread out far enough to adequately support a typical 270deg awning. If this was a true free standing unit, then I'd not go this route. Given that you're driving a Sub, why not go with the full size OVS unit? Just curious as one can never have enough shade IMHO and once you've convinced yourself to go down this rabbit hole, what's a couple of more hundies?

I think this youtuber Darche Eclipse 270 provided the most hones complete review. Like you alia176 I am putting more importance now on FreeStanding100% for practicality.

Some of these like the Wraptor 6k, the Darche Eclipse and OVS Nomadic are SOO similar that one claiming more free standing than other worries me about regretting the purchase, hence the BushCompany 270 XT Max or Bundawan L or 360 seem more appropriate for me.

The bracket for all of these, are they pretty flexible in their location? Meaning, the cross bars the L's attach too, the L's can be attached to multiple location along the Awning Bar/Panel?

For the Bushcompany Awning. Is their brackets the best for their awning? What have you guys done? My roof rack has round cross bars and they are not spaced evenly... i will edit a pic in a little bit.

They are great brackets. However they do not work with the Pioneer Rhino Rack.

I had already decided to go with the Smart Touring System Quick Connect Brackets.

They need to be about 5 inches longer.
