I just found this awning the other day and I’m interested. Do you have any other pictures? How’s the waterproofing of the actual material? Thank you.

Waterproofing is great the material is much thicker than a normal tent. It is a heavy duty canvas type material with a water proof coating. Check out their web site for more photos. This site wont load my files because they are to big.

I have a Nomadic 270 on mine I really like it. It is a very solid built free standing unit and sells for $750 with free shipping in the Cont. USA. It took only 5 days from when I ordered it in California and they delivered to Nevada. It has large box aluminum rafters and stainless steel hardware. It is a 6 pole design with 2 poles pivoting from the front and 4 from the back. Mounting was an easy 45 minutes with the three heavy duty angle brackets supplied with the awning. 4 year warranty, 129 sqft covered shelter.

It makes my Tahoe look a little smaller in this photo. I do have the additional first wall section attached and it is extended out for even more shade.

I'm curious if this awning can be setup w/o any poles, unless of course, the wind is strong. The price is now $999

The video shows with and without poles and the website says should always be set up with guide ropes and poles. Guessing thats how they limit liability if one gets damaged in the wind

I do not understand 270 awnings that have such awful coverage at the rear of the vehicle. It completely defeats the whole point of a 270 awning providing wrap around coverage.

Look at the Darche Eclipse. It offers better rear coverage than the 23Zero Peregrine, which is why I went with the Darche.

The OVS Nomadic is literally the same as the Darche in construction and quality only $500 cheaper. Mine has been great I have been using it over 6 months now the company is located in California and the service is top notch.

I’m surprised no one makes a rear 180 awning that is around 72” wide when stored.

I’m also surprised no one makes a rear and side awning that connect creating a 270.

One of the coolest set ups I ever saw was from Howling Moon. They had a 270 awning that integrated into a tent creating an absolute massive living space. See below.

I have the 23Zero Peregrine if people have questions about it.

Hey just picked one up myself and was curious how you used the brackets provided? I've got a Prinsu rack, and had to get the awning mounts from them, but will only be using 2 or the three mounting points, not the three brackets provided by 23 Zero. I'm wondering if I should use their brackets at all, or just mount the awning directly to the Prinsu brackets, funny as their instructions just show basic operation and setup, NOT actually anything related to situations to use what's in the boxes~ Thanks!

The canvas quality was increased from a 280 to a 320 GSM, the hinges are now alumninum vs steel. overall the hardware, cover, etc are nicer when it comes to the little touches.

The supports got lighter and smaller but mainted the same strength, which helped shave 13lbs off the entire awning without sacrificing coverage. IMO thats a HUGE win.

I have to say, the Darche (is it pronounced Darshe?) and the OVS units have great coverage with the OVS unit considerably heavier but the price points are about the same.

Can someone confirm if the Darche Eclipse unit can be comfortably free standing even with a slight breeze. Their site says it's a "free standing" but wanted some real world feedback.

I know this reply is old but I am very happy with the 23 Zero awning. I have the new version with LST fabric (Blocks out more light/UV) If you put the panels on it creates a huge covered area. Adding even one can create a very large shaded area as the sun moves. As for rain no issues. I was on the Mojave road in March in a huge downpour for an extended period of time. No leaks, no issues, using the ropes to create drain channels worked fine. ZERO need to push on the fabric to move out pooling water. I recommend taking the time to use the poles and stake it down. It takes less than 2 minutes to setup and less than 5 solo to secure it. Time well spent to protect the investment.

There are a few "No pole" awnings out there but the walls are either prohbitively expensive or not an option. If that is important to you take that into consideration.

The OVS is a cheaper knock off of the gen 1 Darche, and the quality difference is noticeable in my opinion.

We use ours without poles all the time, if I’m in a situation where I want to drop the poles and stake it out, I use that as my indicator (personally) to pack the giant sail away.

I have the Darche and can confirm it will freestand with a light breeze. But the poles take literally 30 seconds to attach, so I just do 2 of them. I generally don't attach the third because it's where my galley hatch is and I've never had an issue.

If the OVS is a "cheap knockoff", then the Gen 1 Darche must have gilded angels descend from on high when you open it.

I have the OVS and it's definitely a quality piece of kit.

I too am in the weight loss game. I was looking at the rhino, but the material at 210 vs the Darche 320gsm has me concerned. Is that difference worth $350 or a big deal?
