I have had more luck with the BFG All Terrain T/A on multiple trucks than any other tire. I am currently on my 12th set of E rated T/A's of various sizes with no tire failures (other than picking up the odd nail). I have tried General, Mickey Thompson, Goodyear (crap), Toyo, Kumho, Marshal, Yokohama, and the T/A has out performed them all for my driving requirements.
Currently, I work up in the Rocky Mountains of North Central Alberta. I travel paved highway (ice and snow in winter), lots of gravel roads ranging from sticky clay to 2" crush, 3/4" crush, sharp shale, and it's not unusual to get a foot or more of snow overnight up at work. I need a good all-around durable tire that will tackle the ice, snow, mud, gravel, shale, and pavement. Over the past few years I have started replacing the T/A's on my work truck each fall to ensure that I have fresh tires for the winter (siping is very important on ice), good tread for the spring mud, then the gravel will typically chunk out the tire during the summer. There are other tires that out perform the T/A in the mud, or on ice/snow, or on the highway... but I have not found another tire that can withstand the abuse and still perform well in all these varied conditions. Buying a new set each fall is far cheaper than hitting the ditch and some of the roads I travel don't have the luxury of a ditch :-( .
I like the look of this new design, very similar sidewall "side biters" that I liked on the Mickey Thompson's, they provide added traction in soft terrain.
