New Conqueror Compact owner

Mine is in the middle and won't go all the way up either. I'm looking at changing to a multi-axis coupler so I may move it then. Anybody go multi yet?

I have had no trouble with a 2" ball. It's only 2/100's smaller than a 50 mm.

I was wondering about the jockey wheel too, since I'm building my trailer very similar. I am putting it on the outside, because on the inside it will interfere with any cargo loaded on the tongue. It is a fold up style, and it can actually be completely removed leaving only a mounting ring on the tongue. For those with them mounted in the middle, is it an A frame style? Does it always hang low when it's fully wound up?

Registering?

Hijack mode on....

OK I went to register mine today (in New York) no luck, VIN problem, doesn't show up... they want custom papers, weigh sheet and maybe a kidney. So any thoughts on how to work with this? Is the other NYS owner reading of this? Thanks

So tell me if I am right.

When charging by plugging into the wall the charger switch and isalator switch need to be on with the outlet and lighter switches off.

When in use the charger switch is off and the isaltor switch is on with the lighter and outlet switches on.

I think that I will get a battery charger that I can just leave on the trickle charge when not in use. I have a small generator that I bought that is a 1000 watt. Should be big enough for anything that I need right now, I dont have a fridge just a cooler and running power for lights and maybe a movie every once in a while.

I have never gotten a clear for sure answer ?
so this is from reading another SA forum and trying things out ?

I understand that you can have the isolatoron or off depending on what else you are doing ? using electrical outlets etc..
if you are using a lot of trailer electrical it is best to have it on to prevent to much going to the electrical and not enough to the charge ?

I had it off when I was camping and charging it and it charged up fine as my draw was nothing more than a few lights and a fridge

I am going to wire a A/B switch in between my battery and the built in charging system and my own so I can just switch it when I want to use my xantrex

I have a Honda 2000 generator I use to charge it up on the road every few days
and I had my charger on and my outlets on and isolator off and did not seem to have any issues

bottom line I am not sure ;) hehehehe and not sure what the isolator really does ?
from one guy he said its basically to back isolate things keeping things from going back up your electrical system from something you have plugged in and causing a problem with the charger system ? again this was hearsay and not sure what is going on but want to find out
I have to email conqueror again but never got a answer from them on this one ?

my thought was just to use the built in system when on the trail and not use my xantrex setup when home to keep them up :)

Can you register it as a home built?

I asked...

I asked, "so lets say I walked in here and said I welded up some steel, how do I register that."
Was told I didn't do that ; )
I have that as a secret back up... I guess, just pull off the Mega plate and see how to register it as a home built.

Dang I thought California was bad. I did spend two hours at my DMV and had to explaine a few things, their big guff was about the year, an 03 being registered in 09. Just got the Pink Slip the other day.

Good Luck!!!!!

NYS sucks

Yeah I threw California under the bus, I told them that over 50 of these have been registered, even in California ; ) no help...

Maybe find a different DMV office? Sometimes different counter people can be more helpful than others.

Brian

+1 on that. I got three different stories from 3 different people at 2 CA DMV offices. Got lucky on my third visit.

Classic quote - "That's not a manufacturer's certificate, it's just a piece of paper..."

one guy here had no issues ?

I had a good long time arguing with them and finally got it registered but man the DMV people in general are idiots !!!!!

I agree but...

This woman tried, she got all the supervisors involved, then called the state HQs looking for help. After that she wouldn't let me leave, said she wanted to call a different person at the state level, but still no luck. In the end she left me with a number for the state titles office.... I agree, but since the computer would not let her input the VIN, it all stopped, I don't think another user can get around that.

After all the discussions I had read about registering trailers with no paperwork I was totally prepared for a fiasco. My DMV office made it easy as pie. I say try another person or office if possible.

I can get you pictures of a frame being built which looks pretty much the same... if that would help. ;)

I went in to the Virginia DMV to get a title and register my Compact and was told exactly which forms I needed, there were several. They listed them by Customs forms #'s etc..

I called Dean, told him what I needed, he faxed them up, sent a hard copy as well. I went back to the DMV a few days after my original visit and they said, "Looks like you have everything". No problem at all.

I am currently changing the lights and reflectors to make them compliant with US regulations. Also safer on the highway.

My dolly wheel is located centered between the frame rails, right behind the coupler plate not on the outside of the frame. I've seen many trailers with the jack stands out side the frame. It swings up and out of the way. I just remove the whole assembly for travel. That way I won't lose any parts along the way.

Have any of your Conqueror owners found or devised a good locking system to secure the doors of this thing when its unattended. I would hate to lose a fridge.
