I saw it in person last night. They have one at the Auto Show in Quebec City, of all places. It was just parked in a remote corner, not staged in any way. I almost missed it.
It is a pre-production unit with a diesel engine.

I am not totally sure how I feel about it. Some features/angles seems nice, but some other things seem goofy to me.

The only thing I don't care for is the front end treatment. (I'd also pass on the cargo box and ladder options, but at least they're options)

What did you find goofy about it?

The cargo box and the front for sure. Also the doors seem very big, like very long toward the bottom.

I though the rear cargo are was a bit small/cramped.

My non-overlander friends were also a bit puzzled by it - they thought there were a lot of plastic everywhere.

Incorrect. To do that you need to be a complete idiot. Another foot of depth and they would have floated and be dead now. That was incredibly reckless. It just shows how much these are a bunch of amateurs.

Didn't say it was smart or I would do it; said it was legit that it made it across and "they" had the confidence in their vehicle to do it. We all know we've seen Camel Trophy do that crazy stuff a million times in the past.

No chance I'm doing that; spent enough time in the water over my military career to know that water is the equalizer of all men and machine!

You are missing the point completely. That is not confidence. That is stupidity. They had zero idea how deep it was. It was reckless and they should have all been fired immediately.

They did not do stupid things like that in the Camel Trophy. If you do not understand the different I hope you are not acting as a leader off road.

My impressions of that video-

- Land Rover should have started marketing with videos like this rather than the coachella-style event they did
- It's the coolest I've seen the Defender look yet, but I have to say that the more I see what it is and does it just seems like a really expensive Jeep Grand Cherokee
- The limitations of the independent suspension and air bags is apparent at 0:39 seconds in- the herky-jerky way it's falling/sliding rather ungracefully down that rocky slope. Reminds me that it just can't articulate. I have no doubt that it's more comfortable on the road than the average solid axle vehicle, but on any terrain that is aggressive it falls short. On terrain like that steep rocky slope it looks downright unstable.

It was likely an established track so they knew with a certain level of confidence what was there. You can see tire tracks already established also, so they were not the first.

Camel trophy was 10x as dangerous as this, any rollover in the water, going full out....it would have been over for em'.

Actually I "know" you are missing my point completely; I said I would NEVER do that so there is not an ounce of credit that I would ever ask anyone in my vehicle or their's to do anything I wouldn't do myself. #youreprojecting. I'm 100% sure I understand the risks involved; hence the NEVER statement. I don't know if they walked it prior to this video because I was not there and the video does not show it so I am not going to pretend like I know their plan if any. On the real, come on man, it's a general conversation and nobody on this thread said they would do something they saw in the video so projecting your opinion like we would is off kilter. But I'll wait for your last word because we know you need it! Meanwhile below from the tapes of history!

Camel trophy is so cool. I used to think the trucks looked stupid with those skinny tires when I was a kid.....now they are iconic.

It will be nice to see more the the 90 in action. I’m really not Interested in the 110 and that all they are pushing.

The 110 is the one that will be available first, so it makes sense that they've been pushing it. You'll see more D90 stuff on Insta and other media once they fully open the order books beyond the first edition.
