New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

Using a word or term you haven't heard before must mean I was the one defining it

Reading comprehension subtleties trouble again? The issue is you trying so hard to be an "authority" on the subject. I never said you were the originator of the term or that I hadn't heard of it LOL

I wonder how your life would feel if before posting, you took a 30 minute walk outside first. Your posts sound incredibly reactionary with an overboard level of intensity yet over what importance? It's mostly irrelevant nonsense about the new Defender and suspensions ?

There are some very good TED talks about the downside of "needing to be right". Good luck.

Again with the bro-off idiocy. All because you have to do something - regardless of how idiotic it is - to cover up the fact that you can't even fathom very basic stuff.

Surprised your misdirections doesn't prove you knew/know what a "global vehicle" is, or that you and your rock crawling friends somehow proves anything about IS? In other words, you make **** up and then project your ignorance onto others.

Remember all those quotes of you getting it wrong time and time again about what a "global vehicle" is? And you doubling down on that ignorance by accusing me of being the inventor of that term? You know, within the last hour or so?

You carry spares because you need them, now. A few posts ago, you have never needed them, you only had to swap a belt. Now you need all the spares (differentials, shafts etc.).

No amount of bro-off requests will prove you right - and particular not your rock crawling buddy-buddy system. Proud of having stuff fail even. While rock crawling. :ROFLMAO::rolleyes:

Edit: Apparently it was Jwestpro who claimed I was the one defining the term.
There's no "bro-off". Just requesting proof of any actual experience. Pics or it didn't happen. Without any you're nothing more than a keyboard warrior regurgitating stuff you read but know nothing about. Looking up the definition of "internet troll" would find you there as the definition. Every single post you make is antagonistic and disrespectful to whoever you are responding to. You offer nothing useful, just a bunch of hot air trying to convince people they know nothing and you know everything. I suggest you keep it up. Then we'll be rid of you soon enough.

LOL this guy, triggered and such an easy target made abundantly apparent in the types of presumptive replies. Nobody here hasn't heard the widely common term but I have to say, the worst nasty tools on Discoweb sound like more fun to hang around than you.
Sure, that's why mpinco and Box Rocket still thinks it's about sales volumes, and why you argued that I invented the term. So, I think I can safely say that you three are very much alike.

Reading comprehension subtleties trouble again? The issue is you trying so hard to be an "authority" on the subject. I never said you were the originator of the term or that I hadn't heard of it LOL
Actually, at first I mentioned the notion of a global vehicle in passing as I thought people would easily understand it. I did this to talk about how LR had to design it in a certain way in order to be able to sell it everywhere.
Box Rocket and Mpinco then jumped on that, refusing to believe - even after it was explained to them - that it wasn't about sales volumes.
You then jumped in at the very end to say that I somehow fooled everyone (but you) about the concept, because it was only defined by me.

So, you keep projecting when you accuse me of not comprehending something, when the reality is that after several pages of explaining a simple concept to you, you still refuse to understand it.

I wonder how your life would feel if before posting, you took a 30 minute walk outside first.
Says the guy who goes on the attack and revels in stupidity in order to somehow prove me wrong. The guy who wants me to ship a car to the US so we can have a bro-off, the guy who goes on the attack for several pages because he refuses to understand a simple concept.

Your posts sound incredibly reactionary with an overboard level of intensity yet over what importance? It's mostly irrelevant nonsense about the new Defender and suspensions ?
You truly are a master of passive-aggressiveness, yet I think the last ten pages of so have really shown you for what you are. I guess your notion about a global vehicle is about sales volume is really relevant. Or your utter disdain for physics and anything more modern than an 1920s truck is somehow more relevant.

There are some very good TED talks about the downside of "needing to be right". Good luck.
Says the guy who refuses to understand what a global vehicle is, just to prove someone else "wrong" for using the term. And the guy who will lie and pretend he has answered something when he hasn't. And the guy who will challenge people to ship their vehicle half-way around the world for a bro-off to somehow prove something.
Yes, it's a bit late for your passive-aggressiveness.

It is if you want off-road worthy tires on any model except an SE LR3 (factory 18s), and even then the tire selection is greatly reduced, it's an unnecessary headache with no proper solutions if you're stuck with 19"+ wheels. If you want to fit larger tires and (smartly) retain the ability to run snow-chains, or retain bump-stop mobility, have fun messing about with EAS mods. Good think you don't have a winch. They're a pain to fit to any modern LR without spending a fortune, hacking up body work, and ending up with an inaccessible unsafe solution.

EDIT: I almost forgot about the spare tire situation. Barely larger than stock and you're looking at shelling out for a rear-tire carrier. It's all so unnecessarily difficult. From reliability to logistics, you eventually realize they only engineered them to be off-road vehicles in theory.

LR3 can be "cheaply" modified to fit 17" no problem and opens up the tire inventory exponentially; not saying this is the end all of other related issues but it was a game changer for me and a few others. Fact is, the mod can be done for a few hundred dollars for anyone doing a full brake job because buying new rotors/pads are actually cheaper for the V6 mods and comparable if you buy the EBC ceramic slotted/cross-drilled which have about the same performance at the V8 Brembo set up that is almost double the cost.

Point is, I agree with you on the tire mod as the D3 and D4 should have stayed on the 17" options because 18" are a ********** for any purchasing and best options availability; I can get 17" in just about any flavor I want now and love it and the capability it provides me. It fits in my spare well but I "choose" not to keep it there because most likely it will be harder to get it out when I need it for a puncture on the trail.

On that note, LR3/4 bumpers are limited and more expensive than D1/D2 but there are plenty of options available for safe winch mounting with or without airbags (shooters choice on that one) to include hidden winches. NO modern vehicle comes winch mount ready outside of Jeep but even then it requires a modification to do so and generally speaking are the same modifications that almost all overland vehicle peeps are making (Yota, Ford, Jeep, etc.)

Agreed on your legacy vs. modern as they all have trade-offs but anyone with simple mechanical skills can mitigate or reduce a vehicle's limitations for austere environments with proper planning and a true understanding of their own capability and that of their vehicle.

Just don't think we can argue on the desire to modify or not modify as NO vehicle directly off the showroom floor is up to spec for what any of us are asking it to do in the overland or rock-crawling community; that's why we all enjoy the sport, hobby, lifestyle, etc. because they all need/want our own touch and further capability.

Rover on my friends; Rover On!

You have repeatedly requested that I ship my vehicle over to have a bro-off.
And you're still thinking that I somehow need to prove experience to you of all people. The guy who refuses to believe that a car can be designed as a global vehicle and that it has nothing to do with sales volumes. How is me showing you my experience going to change that? You have reached a stage where you just make silly demands that has no bearing on reality.

Also, as for the solid axles we discussed earlier: You still make ridiculous claims that are not anywhere factual, yet you claim that even though you have an utter lack of engineering insight, your requests for a bro-off or demand for me to tell you all about my experience will somehow prove you're right, and if I don't give in to your demands, that somehow proves you're right.

[EDIT]You were also the guy who made the ridiculous claim that someone from a larger country is somehow innoculated with knowledge at birth, and that this correlates to the size of the population of a given country. That someone from a smaller country somehow gets less of this knowledge, but someone from a larger country gets more. If that sounds unhinged, you're absolutely right. It is. Unfortunately, it was you who thought that was a great argument to prove your "knowledge" and how right you were. Seriously, this is so insane, I still can't believe just how ignorant that is.
[/EDIT]

Even with your attempted passive-aggressiveness, it is obvious that you're projecting your own ignorance onto others. Hell, you even think that because something works at rock crawling/ RC speeds, then it must be the best all around.

Also, you can keep your rock crawling vehicles. I like going faster than crawling speeds.

You have a greater tolerance for modifications than myself. There’s no way I’m buying a vehicle and then swapping out wheels and brakes. If it doesn’t come from the factory with 16 or 17” wheels, then I’m out. I have very little patience for dishonest vehicles. If I can’t trust them to engineer the basics of an “off-road” vehicle into the platform, then I don’t trust the rest of it to have been properly engineered for such purposes either. A Discovery should not present many of these dishonest compromises, but if there’s one vehicle that should not present any of them, it’s the Defender. From the factory, fitting proper tires and a winch with perfect accessibility should be easier than any other vehicle. We shouldn’t have to spend a moment of thought figuring out these fundamentals.

As for bumpers, LR3/4 and many other IFS vehicles are difficult to design bumpers which aren’t bulky, heavy, and ugly. I’ve never seen one for the LR3/4 that looks like a cohesive package, isn’t a pain to install, and offers adequate winch access. Again, too much screwing about for such simple goals. On a Defender or Jeep, only a simple tray is needed, done.

Agreed, just stating modification purposes. On that note, all the parts are LR3 and "were" on the vehicle before the NAS Spec went full retard on 18's". lol

Have you noticed nobody is even paying attention to you anymore? I wonder why?

I never said you should ship your vehicle anywhere. When I invited you to bring a vehicle and go for a ride I had no idea you were not in the US. Go back and read, once you said you'd have to ship your vehicle I dropped it.
You show absolutely zero basis for any of your own "engineering insight". Zero experience, Zero background in the industry, zero actual knowledge. Feel free to prove us all wrong. You're right about one thing. You showing anyone here what actual experience you might have isn't going to change anything. You'll continue to be ignored, because you annoy everyone. I was right long ago. I don't need you to do anything to show that.

Not sure where you got the idea I'm just a "rock crawler" and wouldn't know anything about going faster than "RC speeds". I'm happy to go back to earlier responses from you where you discounted and criticized racing in Baja, or the photo of my LC off the ground. That's really hard to do such slow speeds. For the life of me I can't figure out how we have multiple podium finishes if all I can do is a crawling pace. Someone must have made a mistake. LOL.

Now I'm going to join everyone else and pretend you don't exist. Cheers.

Yes you did. Maybe not the first time, but I seem to remember at least one instance after the idiocy that was that you were somehow born with more knowledge if you were born in a larger country.

You show absolutely zero basis for any of your own "engineering insight".

Coming from the guy who doesn't even understand "unsprung weight" and who tried to argue that reducing unsprung weight is useless since you can't remove all of it, your assessment is really not worth anything.

Zero experience
No. You're mistaken. Just because I won't give in to your demands to tell you about my experience, doesn't mean anything. It doesn't show I don't know anything, and it certainly doesn't show that you know something.

Zero background in the industry
You have no idea about my background. And I refer you to all the times I have quoted you where you have been demonstrably been outright wrong - or even insane.
zero actual knowledge.
Again, see above.

Feel free to prove us all wrong.
Don't confuse your cameraderie with mpinco and jwest making ridiculous claims and outright insanity as everyone agreeing with you.

You're right about one thing. You showing anyone here what actual experience you might have isn't going to change anything. You'll continue to be ignored, because you annoy everyone.
I really don't care that I annoy you. That was shown by you and your two buddies a long time ago. You have been the most insane of them all, though. I don't mean you have just been wrong throughout it, but you have made one insane claim after another.
And this strategy of yours to focus on me not being willing to share my experience, is also insane, considering I have shown you to be utterly wrong at every point. This latest thing about the global vehicle where you went on full attack mode while claiming knowledge about it (you thought it was about sales volume), in addition to your unsprung weight comment just proves the point that whenever you claim I don't know anything about engineering you show yourself to be utterly ignorant of the field.

I was right long ago. I don't need you to do anything to show that.
I have already shown you that you can draw no such conclusion from me not wanting to do a bro-off or not wanting to share my experience. I have even explained how it wouldn't prove a thing if I did cave in to your demands, as your demands are just a diversion tactic to hide the fact that you cannot comprehend even simple engineering issues.

Not sure where you got the idea I'm just a "rock crawler" and wouldn't know anything about going faster than "RC speeds"
Have you forgotten that we discussed unsprung weight and that at any speed above that, IS has an advantage? Have you forgotten that you just recently posted rock crawling photos while proclaiming something along the line of "let's see your IS/Defender do that!"?

I'm happy to go back to earlier responses from you where you discounted and criticized racing in Baja, or the photo of my LC off the ground.
Yes, the one where you thought that posting a picture of a solid axle vehicle jumping somehow proved that it was as good as an IS vehicle? Yes, I remember that one. Did you get your feelings hurt?

That's really hard to do such slow speeds.
Wow!! You actually STILL think (or at least pretend) that I'm saying that a solid axle vehicle can't physically move faster than crawling speeds!
!. SHeesh. And you accuse me of lacking in the reading comprehension department. For the last time: IS is BETTER at anything over crawling speeds. Partially due to the UNSPRUNG WEIGHT, and partially due to a solid axle RIGIDLY CONNECTING THE TWO WHEELS.

For the life of me I can't figure out how we have multiple podium finishes if all I can do is a crawling pace. Someone must have made a mistake. LOL.
See above. This is a repeat of the "global vehicle" discussion. You still fail to comprehend even the simplest of concepts.

Now I'm going to join everyone else and pretend you don't exist. Cheers.

You do that.

you argued that I invented the term

Dude, you really do not understand language. I said you act like you think you are the authority on the term. I sure as heck never said or implied that I think you invented a term that's older than all of us LOL

LOL. I have not even mentioned an opinion on "global" anything or vehicle shipping. I think you've really let this get to you. It's the internet and it's a forum where many people just mouth off and most don't really give a damn.

Franky, I don't think it's worth your energy to even sort out who said what but most of your replies in that multi-quote to me were not even about my posts present or past.
