In March 2010, Isuzu introduced a new model to its commercial truck line in USA. It's called the NPR Eco-Max. The 2011 Eco-Max is a cab forward truck like other models in the NPR series, just a little smaller overall, and with a smaller engine.
The Eco-Max has a GVWR of 12,000 lb. The new 3.0L 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine, known as the 4JJ1-TC, produces 150 hp and 282 ft-lbs of torque. The power is delivered by a six speed Aisin automatic transmission.
The engine and transmission deliver up to 20% more miles per gallon, compared to the model they replace. And the new engine meets 2010 EPA emissions requirements for all 50 states. Emissions are controlled by diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) injection and selective catalytic reduction (SCR).
The Eco-Max is available with wheelbases measuring 110, 134 or 151 inches. The short wheelbase model has a turning diameter of only 31.5 feet, so you can easily maneuver in the urban environment that the Eco-Max is designed for.
Pricing was not immediately available.
Like all NPR models, the Eco-Max is rear wheel drive only.
