Looks fantastic. So can it be used off the truck (e.g. as a base camp)?

Generally FWC campers (and light weight campers of this nature) are not designed to be used on jack stands both from a floor strength perspective and frame strength where the jacks attach. There have been references to folks taking them out as a basecamp BUT they put them on a picnic table or otherwise support the floor. For instance for the trade shows FWC uses some pieces of plywood to form an "X" to support the floor.

However many of us that own/owned FWCs usually don't run around with the jacks on in the first place as its just more weight/drag/ and something to potentially snag if you're off the beaten path.

Especially the snag part.

can't you pull the jacks and toss them in a storage section on the camper, then re-install once you reached your destination?

You can do anything ya want. Personally hauling around 100-150lb of bulky jacks isn't something I'd do for my regular setup. These are nice self contained wandering units. If you like the basecamp thing then unless the terrain you're crossing doesn't accommodate it I'd think a pop-up trailer would net you something easier to disembark at basecamp, cost less, and provide more space. That's just my thoughts on it.

Yes, in the future we will have various full size truck models.

Define "future." I'm coming off an 8 month deployment with money just burning a hole in my pocket. :victory:Could I have one by say late July? Also, ball park figure on the cost of the Ute bed? Thanks.

FWC and our dealers can start taking orders for this new flatbed models now.

Current production times are running approx. 8 weeks to get a new camper ready.

This new design is going to become another model that we offer here at FWC (just like the other camper models we have offered for years).

Denny at FWC in Jackson Hole was really the driving force for us getting this new production model built because he said ... "Here is some money, now build me a camper!"

:)

He went above & beyond, bought a new Toyota Tacoma, became a dealer for the aluminum UTE flatbeds, bought a UTE bed, installed it on his truck, ordered and helped nudge us with getting the new Four Wheel UTE Flatbed Camper available.

Thanks Denny !

Four Wheel Campers here in Woodland does NOT sell or install the Aluminum UTE flat bed, but we can sell this new flat bed camper to customers that are out of our dealer territories, or out of the country.

If you want a one stop shopping experience, Denny in Jackson Hole might be a great choice for you.

He can sell you the UTE bed, install it on your truck, and sell & install the camper too.

FWC does many "factory direct" sales each year, but if you live near or visit near any of our dealers, we would like you to order from them. Please support the dealers whenever possible. They work really hard for us and we appreciate it.

We will be probably transitioning over to having a bigger dealer network over the years to make it an easier buying experience for our customers, and also so we can sell more camper here in the US, as well as Worldwide.

I would have to check with the boss (Tom), but we can probably take an order now for this UTE Flat Bed Model in Hawk Size.

The layout would be exactly the same as the UTE Flat Bed Fleet Model, just a little bigger (wide & slightly taller) camper, so it will fit on a full sized truck better.

We are not going to get into customizing each unit with wild and crazy ideas and a bunch of new floor plans.

This new flat bed model with have a standardized floor plan, and then you can choose the upgrade options you would like.

(example: refrigerator, furnace, stereo, roof racks, batteries, solar, awning, camper jacks, etc. etc.)

:)

Yes, we are excepting orders now for the Hawk or Grandby sizes of this new UTE Flat Bed model.

But delivery times we will be a little longer that our normal camper models.

It will take some extra time to work up the initial drawings, set up jigs, and get the bigger models designed.

Just wanted to let you know.

:)
