Ok.. so I am having a CB issue. CB is brand new, cable is brand new, and antenna is brand new. CB powers up fine, but I can't hear anyone when talking through the cb, and I don't think anyone can hear me. The antenna was supposed to be tuned out of the box, and I don't have an SWR meter to check it. Assuming the antenna is cool, what could be the issue? My next step is to hook up an external speaker to see if it works... Any ideas? My only other thought is maybe the CB cable is too long. I did not coil it, but there is ALOT of excess..
Any ideas?

Just a quick update.. Nothing much to report, but I've just been enjoying the outdoors with the truck.. Don't have any $$ for upgrades just yet.

So here are some thoughts.. As I was trying to figure out why my CB was not working. I did some research, and apparently the coax needs to not be wound, and can't be TOO long for the distance it needs to span.. That being said, the only coax cable I had was 18' long and only needed to go about 3 feet. I am going to do some measuring, but I think a 3 foot jumper will work out better than the current setup. Just gotta buy it, and hopefully my cb issues will be handled.

You have to use a certain length or coax. 16 or 18 ft. Cable impedence or something....just coil it up back and forth and zip tie it under your seat or something. Don't coil it in a circle if I remember right. It's been a while since I played with Cb's.

Some good reading regarding "correct" coax cable length: http://www.stu-offroad.com/misc/myth-1.htm and http://www.signalengineering.com/ultimate/coax_basics.html. Cable length doesn't matter, good connections and proper grounding does. Coiling the excess coax in a circle is bad.

I am planning on building this truck in stages...

Stage 1:

Finish On Board Air Installation
Troubleshoot my CB and figure out why it doesn't work
Install already bought bilstein 5100's
Purchase and Install Camper Tie Downs for slide in
Buy and install power inverter

Stage 2:
Suspension upgrade (Looking at carli suspension currently)
Onboard Shower for outdoor showers
Front and rear bumpers (manufacturer not yet decided)
12-15k lb winch up front
Auxiliary Driving Lights up front

More to come as I think of it... Follow along! I am currently working on the OBA stuff, and will update this thread as much as possible!

Bilsteins have been installed for a couple weeks now.. and I have to say, these things, compared to stock shocks.. This is an AWESOME improvement! I love the improvement of the onroad characteristics is epic! Best $$ I've spent on this truck so far!

Nice setup!

When you're ready, speak to Shaun or Sage about your truck specifics. They'll steer you in the right direction. Normally they'll change the shock valving for that camper. My friend had the 2.5 King system installed in his '07 2500 regcab 4wd w/aluminum bed and popup. Came out real fine! Nice rig and camper.
