I suppose you just use a d-ring adapter for the hitch mount like you would use on a rear hitch. Warn and others make these.

hi guys. been lurking for a long time. this is my first post. thought i might have a little bit of info you guys could use. i see that you're considering bumpers. you might want to check these guys out www.bodyguardtruckaccessories.com
i put their extreme front bumper on my truck (same as yours). i ordered my bumper with the front reciever mount. eventually i'll do a winch setup that i can move front to rear depending on the situation. their bumper deletes the stock tow hooks, but comes with removable shackles. i also put their rear bumper on. the rear bumper bolts on without removing any of the factory tow package. i ordered the rear bumper with the back up lights and shackles. the lights that came in the bumper were pretty lame but i replaced them with some good led's. i wired them separate from the reverse lights. it didn't make any sense to have them to work at the rear of the vehicle and have them wired into the reverse lights. the truck won't be in gear while i'm working at the back bumper so i wouldn't have the lights. anyway, i've been extremely happy with their quality. to make it even better, i got both bumpers, shipped from northeast texas to northern arizona for cheaper than alot of places charge for just the front. if i remember right, cost for both was $1700 + $200 for shipping. sorry i don't have any photos of my truck for you, but they've got some pretty good photos on their site. let me know if you need any other info about them.

Not a fan of those bumpers one bit. Definitely designed for chevy and fords and then modified to fit on a dodge. The rear bumper looks even worse.... but the build quality is quite nice! Definitely a ranchhand style that's very fitting of the folks out in Texas but if you're not a rancher, diamond plate is kinda silly :p

I'm with you Angus.. Not a fan of the diamond plate myself. If I'm gonna upgrade front bumpers, it MUST have a winch mount built in, and not a hitch/multimount setup. Just a personal thing, really. That being said, I haven't done a lot to the truck.. I did foo foo it up a bit. Bought myself a new head unit after owning the truck for 6 years.. this one has built in bluetooth, and a microphone that clips to the visor for hands free cell phone operation. Also has a USB port, Ipod controls, and its awesome! :)

Just another quick update on the progress. I am working on outfitting the truck for my first trip out to "hole in the wall" campground near Amboy and the Amboy Crater. First thing was I needed something I could setup easily to sleep in. After years of sleeping in tents on the ground, I finally pulled the trigger on a Napier Sportz Tent III for the Dodge. It is of course the model for the longbed pickup, and looks like this:

I'm going to be doing a test fit of the tent on the truck this weekend, hopefully with a full install/setup writeup on my blog, with pics :)
It's coming along!

Welcome!

First things first...GREAT TRUCK! The CTD is amazing, I have had a couple of them and they will tow a building up a 90 degree grade in 120 degree heat! I recomend a winch and a flipac! Rock on and welcome to the life!

A winch is on the list. The flipac would be great, but this truck is going to see two different types of camping... Exploring/Overlanding, where I'll use the truck bed tent, and standard campground camping, where I'll use a full blown, fully loaded slide in camper that I have... So a flipac is not a real feasible option for the moment. Thanks for the compliment on the truck.

Here are a few crappy pictures of the truck bed tent installed.. I did it fairly quickly, at about 20 minutes, by myself. In the pictures, the awning is not up, because I did not have the room on my parking deck to put it up, and I didn't have everything strapped down and adjusted completely. I just wanted to see how easy, or difficult it would be to do by myself. Turns out, it's not that hard, and there is a lot of room in there!!

I also got a new cb antenna and new coax, as the stuff I had was junk. My first trip in the truck is coming up in two weeks, so I am gearing up now!

Thanks brother :) It was gonna be project land yacht, as it's the name some friends gave the truck, but alas, someone else here already had that name taken on their dodge quad cab longbed, so I didn't wanna steal their thunder! I love project land mass :)

Truck is packed, and we are heading out to Mojave Preserve, hole in the wall campground, for a little exploring for the weekend. Can't wait! Leaving in about 3 hours. I will have a trip report up on my blog when I get back, with lots of photos!

Nice write up.
To help minimize the "pinstrip" damage, you may try putting a good coat of wax on before heading out on the trail. That is what the guys with the "pretty" 3rd/4th Gen Dodges that I trail bust with do and it seems to help.

Thanks bro. I am not TOO concerned with pinstriping.. That's what the truck is being built for, is exploring, so if I get some pinstriping along the way, so be it.
:)
