You'll hate this but I'd like to drop a 60-series body onto an 80-series chassis...just something about the 60-body I really dig...and the running gear of the 80. I think I saw a thread where someone did this on MUD?

TLC mated the 60 body to an 80 frame/suspension. Not only that, but they also put in the 80 dash as well !!!

lowridetide on mud did a 62 onto an 80 chassis. I am in the middle of a '55 on a '80 chassis, see my sig for the '69 55... It is a lot of work of course and the wheelbases do not line up. I literally had to remove 6" out of the frame of mine but I have very happy with the results... The drawback of the 80 rear axle is it still requires a land cruiser t case which limits your options...

Just went through your 26 page link! Unbelievable and I'm not worthy is about all I can muster! :) .

I don't get that much stuff done at work between 8-5...just the photo and write up takes alot of extra time! Keep up the great work...can't wait to see more!

I got really into MTB this summer and was playing lacrosse full time. Started a new job (why I am always on the internet :D ) in August and have gotton some neat projects done lately (an Isuzu 4BD1T into a '62 and a full cage into a BJ42) since the last real update, but its been a while.. But it was a nice summer off, project is getting to about 1.5 years old already!

I should have an update heopfully in the next week sometime.. It is all I have been thinking about lately again, the project :)

Back at cha bud! You've done a great job on your 60 and it rolls over big stuff without a whimper.

I loved my 62. Looking back, for selling it for so little, I should have just kept it. I keep seeing really clean 60/62's around, and I am tempted to buy another. I was recently called about an 87 60 that a friend has in Texas. All stock, for 3800. Amazingly clean, with only 101k on the clock. I tried to get another friend to buy it...but he wants an 80. Looking through this thread made me want to reminisce...here are a few of my 62 in its glory days:

I'm starting to think a 60/62 will be my next build, I've got a diesel powerplant that needs a home. I'm really torn what to do, ideally I'd like to build a 45 into a troopy (or find a troopy), however the options of a 60/62 are really starting to work in my mind.

I actually have a super built FJ62, I havn't done much with it, between my 40 and Taco I don't really need another rig, so it sits other than an occasional trip to the gas station :( Its SOA with 37" MTR's, Alcan springs, ARB's & 4.88's F&R, Longs in the front. Rebuilt 3FE & trans (out of a rolled FJ62 I bought). Its got alot of potential but its just not quite "clean" enough for me to build... not to mention its "done" I would rather start fresh.

I considered doing a diesel swap on this one, but its a running/driving rig... I would be better off selling this one as a complete turn-key rig and starting with a stocker clean 60/62.

I think you should sell it and buy that super clean 62 on KSL.. That would be a sweet setup.. I miss my 60 series cruisers a lot, the 60 is what got me into cruisers.. I only got into 55s because I couldn't find a clean 60 at the time in my budget..

That super clean 62 has a restored title ;) But keep your eye peeled for me. My bro down in AZ is looking too.
