Don't cheap out on tires. That is all.
I agree with that, and I wish I could swing more for better ones. The most I could probably go is $140 per tire, I could probably get some hankook dynapros or hercules terratrac at2

For the sake of discussion, my thoughts on Hankook Dynapros are mixed.

I've been running Dynapro ATs for the past 40k miles. They've taken me across the country twice and still have plenty of tread left. Many of those were hard miles through rain, mud, gravel and snow. I've had a very good experience with them.

That said, I won't buy them again since they are made in China. I try to avoid buying products that are made there for a host of reasons. I assumed the tires were made in South Korea when I bought them and didn't check the sidewall until it was too late.

I guess my point is, if the location of manufacture is not an issue for you, they are a well priced, hard wearing, solid performing tire.

We have Dynapros on our G3. The thing is sketchy on snow-covered roads. I am having a 4-wheel alignment check performed soon to rule that out. I'm also going to put it on a rack to check that the vehicle is actually square. It shows evidence of a front driver side impact some time in it's past.

If all that comes out well, I'll have to assume the tires are not well suited for snowy highway travel. The last time I experienced this was on our Liberty. It took true winter tires to make that thing behave on snow.

Thanks guys, I'm really torn between tires and im not sure what to do. A while back I started a thread on tires http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130630 to find out which tire was the best for the money. Alot of guys really love the dynapro's. I may try and find something different...

I'm partial to Goodyear Duratracs. They work well on the east coast, IMO. I'd put them on everything if they came in my favorite size.

I'm currently running Dynapros oversized +1. We track in deep sand, limestone, mud and daily commute on freeway. They're quiet, have no air-down issues, and so far have handled our varied terrain. I ran Cooper Discoverers on my Monty Gen III and was equally impressed.

I would love some duratracs but with my budget I can't afford $200 a tire plus mounting and balancing.

Some of my offroading will include deep sand so thats good to know that the dynapro's work well in that situation. I will look into coopers as well, If I remember correctly I think they are around the same price as the dynapro's.

Thanks guys

I called the dealer to ask if they could get coopers, the parts said they were waiting for them to come in, he then went on to tell me that mastercraft is made by cooper...

Does anyone if this is true???

Yes, cooper makes tires for multiple other brands, including Mikey Thompson for sure. I think like 5 or 6 other brands too

Thanks nwoods, I gotta be honest I will probably go with the mastercrafts, unless I can find a deal on the Hankooks. I have way too many things to repair on my rig, and too tight of a budget...

I'm on a budget, too. When I got my tires, I only bought four. The spare is a used all terrain take off that was basically free. It's not in the rotation, just for emergencies, so....
