New Nissan Truck to be Unveiled June 11th

I'd like an 8 speed auto.....better mileage, lower first gear, what's not to like? As long as it isn't a cvt I'm happy. The block being American I won't even go into....

Hopefully it's a neat truck.

I understand the pros of increased mileage and better gearing, but at the same time I've always hated automatic transmissions that are always hunting for the right gear. It drives me crazy. It's like the vehicle is trying to horribly sing a song. I just hope they end up leaving a selectable shifter in gears 1-3 and none of those twisty electronic push button shenanigans. I still hate the turn dial 4x4 switch on the latest gens. I wish they they stuck with the manual 4x4 shifter.

Rust does a body good.
Im with Richard. I just don't trust these new transmissions with so many gears.

I imagine that only time will tell. Nissan builds some super robust drivetrains. Yes, gear hunting is annoying, but I wouldn't have any real worries about reliability. I'd like to see a 6 speed auto. I don't mind the 4x4 being operated with a switch actually. I find it works better than my first gen to be honest. I pop it into 4x4 and hit the throttle. Nothing, nothing, nothing, BANG! It slams into 4x4, which can't be good for it. It's even worse in 4-lo. The button operation seems to work nice and solidly for me.

Ugly. A far cry from the attractive 1st generation Frontier and old Hardbodies. Could be a winner with diesel power though.

I like it a lot better than the current truck. I think they did well considering what they are trying to evolve from.

The Left Lane News article talks about the Navara, Nissan's pickup sold in markets outside North America. Autoblog received a comment from Nissan, saying this is not the new Frontier:

Nissan North America spokesperson Dan Bedore reached out, saying, "The Navara, which is designed for global markets, including Thailand, is not an indication of an impending launch of a new Nissan Frontier for the US market."

I like that it really looks unique in a way that they took their own approach rather than copycat everything else out there.

I owned an 08 Frontier CCLB and thoroughly enjoyed that truck. Miss it still at times. Put the diesel in this and steering wheel on the left ("right") side and I believe that I would be standing in my local dealership tomorrow.

I think that is one good looking truck. I dig the body lines and the interior. Seems like a very nice platform. I know what I'm getting next :D

However a different article on the same page says, "Like the current model, the next Frontier will be offered with several body styles including King and Crew cabs as well as two different bed lengths. The truck's exact specifications will vary from country to country, but the Navara-badged model pictured above is nearly identical to the U.S.-spec Frontier that will be sold on these shores."

If it's the later that's true Toyota needs to pay attention.
