Just wanted to drop in and say hi. I've been wheeling for a couple of years now and I am at a cross roads with my 1995 Wrangler. I'm leaning towards a medium duty overland set up rather than a crawler. Currently looking for a low profile safari rack so I can fit in the garage.

I'm new to the "Overland/Expedition" world so any advice, hints or tips is welcome, especially from other Jeepers that have overcome the inherant "limited space" issues on our rigs.

I too have a 95 YJ. I solved my space issue with a homemade roof rack (5' x 6'). And I put storage boxes on the fenders and in the back, next to the spare. I try to use all sq. footage available to me, something that all Jeep owners probably have to do because space IS limited.

I'm not sure if this is your idea of a low profile roof rack. It rises above the highest point of the jeep only about 8 inches or so.

I keep recovery equipment and tie down straps in the rear box.

Here is a shot of my interior tool boxes. A friend rescued these out of an old DRMO pile at a base in Germany.

Nice rig cavedave. Unfortunately 8" sides are too high. I would difinitly hit the upper garage door opening. I think I'll just admit defeat and remove the basket between runs.

On a side note, is that you air intake above the hoodline? Nice!

Do you need the back seat? If not you can increase effieincy of storage by making or buying a shelf/basket.

I like the idea of a platform with a 1/2" - 3/4" lip just to keep things from sliding. I'll need to take a look into that. (Wish I had a welder)

Yes I do need the back seat. I've got my 2 boys that would come on some of my trips. I'm in the works of designing a extendable shelf that covers the small space in the rear when the seats are in and will extend/fold out to cover the cargo space when the seat is folded all the way forward.
