Hello all, I’ve officially started my trailer build. I’ll be using an Anchor Mountain Overland DIY tub and lid kit. The steel for the frame has been ordered and I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.
Frame will be 3x2x.120
Wheels will be D window gloss back steel running 31x10.5-15 inch Kumho MT51
I’ll run 3500 lb solid axle, 5x5 hubs
I’ll paint the frame black and the tub sand color. I’ll keep updating the thread as I go, for now, here’s some unboxing pictures. I got the lucky 007 serial number.

Thank you Justin at Anchor Mountain Overland

Got the steel for the frame and wheels and tires mounted. Also got some practice welds going to make sure this trailer doesn’t fall apart, like the Smittybilt ones.

I wish I could buy a tub without the cross bar on the tailgate. I want to haul my snowblower around.

I don’t know if they can make a kit like that but you can always talk to Justin and seee what he can do for you.

Also got the frame material all cut and ready to weld.

You could cut the crossbar out but you would want to brace the rear corners of the tub to prevent flexing. The perk of a DIY kit is you can do anything you want with it!

We love our DIY OUT from Anchor Mountain! Can't wait to get it out again this year once it warms up a little more.

Greg, your build was what inspired me to tackle this build. I’m following a lot of what you did and a good amount of the same parts, aside from a couple of parts that were a little bit cheaper for me to find locally

Awesome, good to hear! It's a neat option, pretty affordable for someone that is capable of DIY'ing their own trailer. I like how you can make it yours! I'll be watching your thread to see how it comes together.

So I normally work on the trailer at night and I apologize for the darker pictures, today I got home early and took some pics of the trailers progress today.

Got the fenders in from compact camping solutions and they look great. Also moved the leaf spring mount further back and finished welding the frame gussets, probably a bit overkill but hey, they were only like $30 for 12 of them and they look really good and you never know. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to finish having a rolling chassis

Finished welding all the inner frame portion, leaf spring brackets and gussets. It’s starting to look like a trailer. Also welded up some shackles to 1/4 inch plate so I can weld them up to the rear frame

Where did you buy your rims and tires. I am looking to replace my 15x6 rims with 3 1/8" backspacing and have had issues finding larger rims with same or similar backspacing or just bigger tires. I currently have 27" tires.

I bought the rims from 4 wheel parts and the tires are from priority tire outlet. I think the wheels are 15x8 with a 4 inch backspacing

Have you thought about adding a rear 2 inch receiver tube so you can add a bike rack or other accessories? I have used short ones through the rear crossmember on a few of my trailers. As I like to plan. "better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it LOL. My 2 cents

I have thought about it and I’m still undecided, I figure for a bike rack I can add it on the rack where the roof top tent will be mounted to. I did add some towing point because I am also part of the “better have than not club”

Some big progress tonight, finally have a rolling chassis. I love the way the trailer looks but realistically it’s a bit too tall, will have to end up flipping the axle. Also did some testing with the fenders from compact camping solutions aka Dinoot trailers
